engine just flat out gives up

ok when i am driving down the road some times the motor will just start to loose power and if i get on it, it will stall. it is like there is no fuel or some thing. it is so bad some times i can not get up small hills and can not go faster than 35-40. hear is the kicker if i shift into natural and shut it down and start it right back up it will run fine. where should i start to look fuel filter is brand new.

Does it sputter or just not go? Can you still rev it or is it rpm limited because of the problem. It sounds like you have a dying fuel pump or relay but it could be a number of things. Check out your injecotr spray. It is nice and even or does it look patchy and hit and miss?

I'd try to put a fuel pressure gauge on it, but my bet is bad fuel pump. Replace with high performance one.

If it has limited revving capability, it may be the Cat.

This may not be your problem but my car did something very simular. I happened to be looking at the volt guage and it was below 10v. Turned out to be a bad alternator. I was glad to be able to get the car home, and as you said it would idle ok but would not pull the car at all.
