She died in traffic =(
Going through a green light with a red light just a few hundred yards later.. applied brakes for the red light.. revs drop to zero. Try to get her restarted... nothing. *sigh* here we go again.
Injectors aren't firing, FP relay is clicking happily, no fuel pump whine. Assuming dead pump. Uncovered the access a previous owner had chopped in the back shelf.. I don't like their idea of sheet metal work. eww. but it does save me from dropping the tank.
Any ideas on what it may be besides fuel pump/wiring directly near fuel pump, oil pressure switch, and fuel pump relay? Haven't taken a DMM do it yet, on tomorrow's list before the pump gets pulled.
Also, any ideas for a pretty way to cover the access? Previous owner used rivets and little support bars and the bottom of a coffee can.. I'm thinking 1/8" stainless bent to match the contours of the shelf to try to get some of the original support back with hinges on one end, maybe flat dzeus screws on the other...

Ok, not sure about your problem with it quitting.. But as for your access cover.. check out some boat dealers. There is a product made by "Seadog Line" It's a screw out deck plate.. Here is a link to some PDF files.

Wow.. that would be killer if all I needed was the circular cutout.. those are nice.
The cutout is not only the circle, it's also a bend-back rectangle for the lines to fold up since they're hardlines... so the plate will just end up being rectangular.

Well, gonna go to the car soon.. bringing along one of my crazier mechanic friends.. she should be running tonight. I'm glad last time I replaced the pump I spent the extra $$ making sure I got a lifetime warranty delco pump.

Well, it would appear the fuel pump wasn't priming merely because I seem to have had the quietest fuel pump ever
.. new one isn't quite as quiet, but still no go.
Back to the no injectors firing.. spark seems to be missing also.. ICM is on the docket for tomorrow.

Definatly sounds like a problem with the module. If the injectors dont fire (make clicking noises) and the fuel pump/relay dont engage when the engine is cranking, thats a good sign that there is no reference pulse to the ecm.

ICM was toast. Drove her back home today.. but I'm replacing the fuel pump again. When I went to checker, they were out of Delco pumps, so went ahead and paid the extra 75 cents for a Master pump... I *don't* like it. When I went to tighten the nuts that hold the electrical connecter to the pump, one of them started to strip out.. I fear that if it comes loose it'll arc inside the tank.. and I don't know how the rest of you feel about stuff arcing in your tank, but friggin screw that bs. As soon as they have a delco pump in stock I'll be taking this back, getting my 75 cents back, and putting the delco pump back in... and probably spend the 75 cents + extra for new fuel lines anyway.
Well I have conflicting resopnses to this post...
If it only stalls out when you hit the brakes, it sounds like a vaccum leak on the MS line or problem with the actual MS (recently had the same problem with my sister's Olds).
But since you said you have no fuel comeing from the injectors, its probably something in the fuel delivery path.

Uhm.. thanks anyway, though?
I see now that my dismay over the fuel pump's condition kinda made my last post seem like a "she's not completely fixed".. which she's not.. but the ICM *is* what caused her to die.. Spent alot of time cranking her over the past couple days.. but with the new ICM, standard 2-3 second cold crank and *vroom* .. just like she's supposed to. She's fixed, she's just not perfect anymore because of the fuel pump. Yes, I'm picky
