Ported crossfire, tbi , or tpi
Here is what I have built so far: 4 bolt main 350 block, decked and bored .060 over, 882 shaved heads( I know not the best), double roller timing, 230/230 cam. Should I use my ported crossfire intake with 2in tb's, or a 88 iroc tpi system, or an aluminum intake with a 454 tbi on it? Thanks for your help! Oh, this is for an 84 vette.

IMO with that engine & cam, you should use an intake manifold that will move a lot of air -- so I suggest a carb-style intake manifold and the 454 TBI unit.
The ported CF essentially matches the stock TPI, and the stock TPI is also somewhat flow restricted (though it's great in a heavy car or truck because of the torque production at mid speeds). So these two are both flow-limited, and your cam choice is set for higher speeds. That's why I suggest a conventional manifold + the big TBI unit. This choice is probably the least expensive too.
Item: you'll need custom ECM tuning to get everything dialed in, and you'll also need a fuel pump that can deliver enough volume.

Thats kinda the way I was leaning. Does anyone have a preference to which intake? I found a GM 10105143 aluminum intake with a 350 tbi, fuel lines, sensors, and throttle cable for $75.00 in a junk yard. Do you think this would be a good start?
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you don't want to mod the hood you will have to check your clearances. Don't get a manifold the will make the tb sit too high because you will need an adapter, unless you use the Holley projection manifold. A good carb intake you might want to look at is the Wieand Stealth single plane intake. Happy hunting.

Hey Blankmantn, could you please keep us updated on your mod, how things turn out, and what you decide to use? I am still trying to decided wether or not to get rid of the cross-fire for something else. Want to build a motor with around 350-400hp, and 400+tq. Some people say keep the cf and port it, etc. Some say to do what your doing, others say go to carb or tpi. I don't know much about cars or engines, so I want to try to get it right the first time. Just can't make up my mind yet. So I need all of the input I can get. Oh, plus I need to take into account that I live in CA, smog rules suck out here, the visual inspections are what can make or break you. My camaro is my daily driver too. Thanks for any help you can give me. :hail:
