opinions on engine combo

ok i have a 89 rs with a 305 tbi, and i am currently rebulding a 350tbi out of a 92 caprice, with 9.75:1 cr. i havent selected a cam yet, but i do have a set of 350 tbi heads off a 88 truck , ? is what do i have to do to the heads to make them work with a roller motor. and what cam should i use. what about tbi upgrades, computer upgrades. i am also running headers and 3" flowmaster exhaust. 700r4 trans with 4.10 posie. any coments welcome. thank you

don't bother with swirl port heads of any of the TBI cars. get a set of iron l98's or something that doesn't have a big restriction in the intake port.

other than that, pick a cam (i would call CompCams and get what they recomend, i am also VERY fond of the grinds that Harold Brookshire does for Lunati), the springs that match the cam. and go to town on the build up. you will probably want either a big block TB, or a holley unit.

the computer work, you are going to want to start reading, the only way to really accuratly tune these things, is to do it yourself.

Well ylou are going to be spedning some money on this swap so you might as well spend another 100 and get some L98 heads like Dewey suggested. They will be far better then the TBI heads and can support some really good power with a little porting. Now add your cam of choice to that with some proper tuning and you have a great combo that is not much more money than what you had planned for.

What about finding some vortec heads? Those are proven power makers, but you will have to get a votech TBI intake manifold for them.
