Air Cleaner Lid

Hi guys I know that I am going to have hood clearance problems because i have a spacing in my air cleaner (i used a different k&n filter to raise up the lid) and i dont want to lose the extra flow when i puton my new manifold and spacer so i was wondering if anyone was using any of those hi-flow lids like the k&n extreme lid thingy. If so does it work fairly well? Where did you gets yours from and what size? Thanks, Ron.

Waht intake are you going with. I have a 14x3 K&N open element with the extreem lid in combination with a .5" TBI spacer and edlebrock TBI intake. All together I am about .75" taller than the stock height and I can still close my stock hood. It is very close and my wing nut presses into the insulation under the hood but it still closes. I got all of my filter stuff through jegs and summit racing.

I am getting the edelbrock manifold. It should be on its way I bought it on here. I think the part number was 3704 and he is including the spacer he had on it some im bot sure what size but thats exactly what i am looking for. So a 14x3 and an extreme lid? Cool this should work out just right. Also what do you think of the manifold? Did you notice a difference? I am hoping I will because im doing a spacer, manifold, and the air cleaner assembly probably all at once. Thanks, Ron

Well you won't notice much from either with the stock heads and cam. The stock intake can support the stock heads and cam. You will see a little better top end but nothing to go crazy over. It is a very good intake, but it responds better with major internal upgrades. The spacer is a waste and I would not run it unless you have a drop base air cleaner that will not clear your distributor. The edlebrock TBI intake is .25" taller than stock. If the TBI spacer that you have is bigger then .5" I would not run it. Plus that intake has a pretty good plenum size that really doesn't need the aid of a spacer.

i used the edelbrock elite air cleaner. it is oval so clears the throttle shaft nicely. no spacer. it is 3 inch and injector pod is 2.75 inch. other AC needed spacer to clear linkage. with 1/2 inch adapter it should clear my hood.

I was running the 3704 with a .5" spacer (nitrous plate) and a 14x3" filter and it fit fine. I don't see how the Extreme Lid would be much help since it'll pretty much be hitting the hood lining.

I have the same set-up now but my .5" spacer is not a nitrous plate. I don't have any clearance problems either. I only have the extreem lid for looks only. When the hood is shut it is rendered useless and is choked off by the hood insulation. I did not like the look of the cheap chrome lid that came with the open element.
