you guys think its a good deal?

TBICHIPS is doing engines now.http://www.tbichips.com/TBIMODS.htm

I was thinking of getting one since my 198,xxx lo3 is on its last legs.

I E-mailed him and had a response in my box when I checked it THREE HOURS LATER!(thats awesome response time!!!Mad props!:hail: ) anyway:

I may be interested in your potential Vortec 350 deal. How much for
a non-emissions engine ready to run?

thanks,
Rob

the response:

With throttle body, intake and chip will cost $2300+ shipping. Smog legal
would add about $300 to that cost and no throttle body would deduct about
$300. Standard long block crate motor would be $1800.

Brian

So, what do ya'll think?

It depends what comes with his final package. See when you get into any engine swap or heads and cam stuff on your 305 you need the following stuff.

Chip burning
Fuel pump
Larger TBI unit with injectors
intake manifold

As you can see the long block is the last thing to go. You are going to nee these anyways with any serious power gains with your 305. So if you are going to need these anyways you might as well wait and just go with a LO5, L98 or 330HO crate.

Shifty. re-read my first post.
Everythings included.Even a chip burned for the engine Its ready to run! So is a "drop-n-go" 300+ hp vortec 350 crate worth $2300?

It is not a bad price I guess. You could get a LO5 shortblock, intake of your choice, and some worked L98 heads for just under that. However, this will be pretty much a true dialed in combo if he dyno tested it enough to get the chip right. It seems like you are going to need a larger TBI unit with injectors though and that can throw off the tune. I take it you already have upgraded yor exhaust and fuel pump. What intake does he supply with that?

i personally think that would be awesome as hell if he could get that going. I, for one, would buy it, esp. if he could get it to pass emissions. i think that guy has got a good thing going

Doesn't that say it comes with the TBI setup? If its all tuned in I could drop in a 300 hp engine and just upgrade my fuel pump (already did exhaust)? Sounds like a nice deal to me and I wouldn't have to worry about burning my own chip for the setup.

well i have an 87 L98 block with the heads that im goging to rebuild this summer , the nice thing it only has 95k on it so its in pretty good shape to start with but im goign toprob go with the holley 2 inch intake and 670 tbi with atleast #65 injectors and of couse some chip tunning.. this is what im thinking

block .030 over
forged psitions/rings 9.72 to 1
high flow oil pump
all new berings
new lifters, pushrods, and 1.42 ratio rocker arms
ported l98 heads with new seals and valve springs
cam i havnt figured out yet
( maybe lt1 or lt4 or sometrhing from comcams)
holley intake
either 670 tbi or 454 tbi unit

once this is odne and in with the mods i have in my signiture already and subframe conenctors im thinking i shold have problems hanging with lt1's and should be able to hit the 13's on a good day . I will prob go with tbichips.com atleast for the first few chips to get it running. i got one chip form his and i love it for my current combo.
