Now, I am by far no expect on Firebirds, but I would bet that it is exactly the same as the Camaro. I don't see why GM would go to the trouble to vary the two at all (engine wise). Someone should on this forum should know for sure, though.

They are the exact same engines. The camaros and birds always got the same engine options over their 35 year tenure.

Iroc is correct.
My first car was a '67 Firebird and it had a 326 in it. The Camaros' for that year had a 327.
I think a 350 was available for both but the Firebird could be had with a 400 and not the Camaro. I don't think the 396 was available for the Camaro in '67 but it may have been availablel in '68 and '69.

For any 3rd or 4th gen though the options were the same. Trending Topics

They started to go standard with the 3rd gens. The first and 2nd gens had slightly different options. The Trans Ams always seem to have the bigger engine (although not necessarily better).
For the 2nd gens there was a 6.6 T/A available for Pontiac (which I believe was acutally an Oldsmobile 403) but Chevy used the 350 for the Z28. There was also a 455 available for the Trans Am in the early to mid 70's. But Chevy only went as large as the 396.
I'll stop here since this is not the history board.

Well, just to fix a bit of info before we stop talking about it, there was a pontiac 400 (nice) and then during the last few years of the second gen's, some t/a's came with the oldsmobile 403 (puke)..
