toro leafblower supercharger?????
I was browsing cardomin.com and came across a kid with a TBI third gen with an electric leaf blower plumbed into his ducting plugged into a power converter. He claims a .5 sec. reduction in E.T... I checked on leaf blowers, and some can blow 200mph. Its only a $150 investment with the power converter, so im seriously thinking about it. I have TPI so i will have to come up with an air filter before the blower. I want my plumbing to be more sealed than his (pic enclosed). Will this work???? I will only hook it up for the track and turn it on at wide open throttle. Im i crazy???
Im all about budget racing, i have some cheap mods i learned from this site and other sources. check my webpage http://www.cardomain.com/id/2quikk4u
tell me what you think about this idea, it is amusing if anything!

Did you notice the car was right hand drive as well.
Well actually he photoshopped it to make it look like it was.
I got more dumber just looking at that picture.

well due to the lack of pressure, let alone with an otherwise stock air cleaner, that thing is useless.
Wow...just wow. My friend Aaron and I had this very same idea to every very last detail. I photoshoppped a pic too in 2001 when I had the idea.
To say the least, if I dig up the thread you will find that nobody was particularly interested. Figures. LOL.

Dude, you forgot to include a picture of yourself with the 6 foot long ******.
Seriously, a leaf blower for induction...what are we Mustang owners now?!?!?!?

no ******s here.
Im no mustang owner either, Im not talking about using this idea for everyday street driving. Just on race day with wide open throttle. If it blows air at 200MPH it should make some kind of psi if the plumbing was sealed tight shouldn't it?
If i can shave .15 seconds it will be worth it. Besides, i can use the leaf blower like normal if it don't work. Its only a $150n investment. Im not trying to produce paxton power, just any HP i can get......

Well even if it does produce positive manifold pressure, which "boost" is supposed to do, how do you plan on compensating for the added air? You'll be running lean, even though the cars are set rich at the factory, you can't expect to maintain ideal air/fuel ration throughout the rpm band since the "blower" has no way of increasing "boost" as the rpm rises like a turbo or supercharger. So if it made an assload of "boost" down low, say 2200rpm, it would be that EXACT SAME boost at 4500rpm since you can't increase the speed of the blower as you increase in acceleration. so I dont' see how performance would be enhanced with it. Try it, if you blow something up, you'll learn a valuable lesson, if it works, write "I TOLD YOU SO" in the biggest letters you can find and have fun with your "boost".

$150 for a leafblower?
Ive got one an electric one for you $15.
Or a gas one that goes on your back with no fuel line or recoil, condition unknown $10

I thought about that also. If it were to run lean i could use my wetshot of NOS with the N20 turned off so only gas would shoot in. I did this before with no "blower" and the car just bogs a bit and runs rich.....
Maybe i can put a shopvac in the tailpipe to increase the flow???? LOL

Not only I am a 3x Mustang owner, I am also a 2x F-body owner. I swear, some people take the ford vs. chevy thing a bit too far. I haven't posted here in about 2 years, not to mention...I made that photoshop in the year 2001.
And if you think I am or was serious, well...NEVER. The toro leaf blower is merely a joke, and will not yield positive results. It will blow unpressurized, warm air, and may even restrict air flow.
So as a Mustang owner, I deny this being any sort of power adder except to clean your yard, turbo style.

My bad WS6, wasn't trying to spark ford vs. chevy junk or rag on you. The only thing is, I've seen this leaf blower induction before, and it was on a foxbody, so that is where the mustang comment came in. It's amazing what some people think will make their cars faster....

If you really think adding a leaf blower to your car will increase power I suggest you pick up a few books and see what makes forced induction work. It is far more complicated than adding air.
