Throttle rod retaining clip?

Where on earth am I supposed to get another one of these? No parts store in my area carries them, and the chilton manual reccomends buying a new one whenever you remove the throttle body.

For those wondering it's the little clip that holds the throttle rod line to the actual throttle body.

Right now it sits on there fine, but it seems like it could come loose pretty easily

I did a search to no avail.

Junk yard woudl eb a good place. Place an ad on the classifieds. Im sure someone has an extra retaining clip they would part with for a trivial ammount of money. Might even try the help! section at an autoparts store. Unlikely its there but who knows.

I'd really like to get one today considering it's the only think keeping me from driving.

What do all those people changing their intake manifolds do about this? You have to remove the throttle body to get to the manifold

put the clip and all other small parts in a safe place so they dont get lost. I keep a spare on hand just in case i do ever loose it.

they're a pain to get on and off, but a regular E-clip will work just fine.

you can get them at any decient hardware store. however, you can reuse the throttle retaining clip and reuse it as much as you want... thats what most of us do.
as long as the little tab comes back down enough that it cant slip to the big part, you're fine.

the one on the far left is a E clip.. the other two are snap rings.... if you can fit snap ring pliers in there (doubtful), then you can use thoes too...

Thanks guys I went and got an e-clip.

Only now my car won't start haha, it turns over but almost acts like it's not getting any gas.

I think it's a timing problem but i marked the distributor when i removed it and it seems to be in the right spot Time to go buy a timing light i guess.

I know you already fixed the problem but for those others that may read this:

Try a Lowe's Home store. They have a whole section of specialty hardware. I have found a couple of things there.

Putting the distributor in the right spot is only half of what you have to do. You have to set the timing. There is no way you can get the distributor back in and not have the timing be the way it was before you removed it. A small nudge to the distributor can change tming by a degree or two.

Would improper timing cause the engine to just plain not start though?
