Who has CC'ed their stock LO3 heads?

In the latest issue of CHP they do a vortec buildup on a 305. The say that they measured the vortec heads to be 63 CC. The thing that got me was that they said the stock heads cc'd at 55cc's. Do the LO3 castings vary like vortec heads do? Some vortec heads come in at 64 cc and some as low as 62. I thought 305 castings were consistant at 58cc's.

I wouldnt be surprised if they varied a bit. After all, theyre just cast parts and not completly precision machined. Core shift, uncleaned carbon deposites, etc would probably throw the volume off a tad.

CHP sure made the vortec head swap out to be a real pain and showed just how much it would cost to have a professional shop do it. 2400 bucs is a new suspension or Moser 12 bolt or Currie 9".

Yeah they kinda went the wrong way about it, since the Vortec head swap is supposed to be a budget alternative.

Yea it is budget for a 350 but not a 305 because of all the machine work they put into them. The build would have also been cheaper if they didn't go with the modified scoggin dickey version.
