Running w/o egr valve

I have a couple of days before my new valve comes, and the old one is off right now. do i need to put the old one on to run the car or can i run it with nothing on that part of the intake manifold?

You need soemthing to plug that hole. I would not recomend running your car without one. You could have all kinds of detonation from high combustion temps.

Its not recommended you drive without it. And you definatly have to cover up the egr port as it leads directly to an exaust runner. If need be, just put the old valve back on if you absolutly have to use the car.

Yea, i know about the high detonation thing, thats why i decided to replace the valve in the first place. Well the car gets out of storage sunday so i'll be driving it. i'll just put the old one back on. I had ordered one from GMPD using their 'ulternitive catalogue' to find the right part number, well it was the wrong part number so now it has to be shipped back and switched and all that other BS, its taking forever.

Was just wondering if that hole would be a problem if it were left un covered.
