Holley 670 Question
Those of you who have the Holley 670 TBI did you get a gold distribution ring? If so, did you use it? It seems that it would hinder airflow to me
Heck, there wasn't even anything in the instructions that came with the throttlebody that explained what to do with it. I only figured it out by reading about it in a magazine article.

You will only use that ring if you use a drop base open element. Youw ill get rid of the ring with a non drop base.

I was talking about the gold air distributon ring with the 2 tabs that Holley sent with the throttle body. I never new what it was nor where it belonged until just the other day when I was reading the "Performance Q & A" in the May issue of Chevy High Performance. Someone wrote in asking if the Holley throttle body solved the fuel distribution problems that the stock GM ones had. The responce was that Holley has a ring with 2 tabs that stick up into the airsteam in front of the pods to help pul the fuel to thefront of the intake manifold. Until I read this I had no idea what the ring was for and how it was suppose to be mounted . There was nothing in the instructions at all about. I figured it was some sort of adapterl

I don't have any pictures right now, but I'll take some in the morning and post them.

Yes, the article said the part number is 508-12. I'm not sure about wether or not it will fit a stock GM throttle body. I still have my original, I'll have to look at that as well in the morning.

Your right. I just went to Holley's web site and that is for the 4bbl. The 2bbl part number is 508-10.

You have to remove an injector pod mounting screw from the back right side of the throttle body and the screw goes back on through the hole in that tab. There's a notch in the inside of the ring that lines up with the raised part of the throttle body where the injector wires come through.
All in all I can understand the theory of how the tabs are supposed to help, I just have to wonder at whatcost to air flow restriction. I could call Holley and ask them but all I would get would be a pre-written, cue card type answer if any answer at all

I may have to check that piece out.
Let me know if you can verify if it will fit a GM TB.
I remember reading an article on the 4bbl Projection, but don't remember the details about the ring.
It probably won't cause a restriction in my case; I have 2.2" bores
My application is a 454 and BBC's are known for running rich on the rear cylinders. This device, along with a TB adapter that mounts the TB forward on the intake may solve my problem.

Thanks for the pics and info.
I'll probably grab one of these and give it a try, even if I have to mod it a little bit. I'll "massage" it a little, like everything else I install
