New track times and i broke the 90 mph barrier.

heres how it goes.

RT .020
60' 2.278
330' 6.398
1/8 9.813
mph 71.90
1000' 12.761
1/4 15.259
mph 90.21

I was suprised. I wanted to do a run with myhood off but everybody was blowing up. I sat in the staging lanes for 2 and a half hours. I said screw it, put the hood on and left. This run was at 5.30 and 85 degreese.

Hey not bad for a stock tune. When you finally get into prom burning you could pick up another 5mph easily.

With that 90 mph trap you should be in the low to mid 14's. Looks like traction might be one cause. I am running a 16.102 @ 85.11 mph with a 2.3 60ft. If I could freakin hook I would see mid to high 15's.

I know when i had nitrous on my S-10 it trapped at 95.46 mph and ran a 14.0. Im hooking up BUT the motor falls on its face out of the hole. And it also "surges" going down the track. I dont know if that is the sign of a chip needed burned or if it needs a new fuel pump. The damn thing idles like my dads big block camaro with a .740/.740 lift cam. I think i need a chip burn. But i dont want to dump alot of time/money into this motor due to the fact that ive got a stroker in the works.

Yeah guys thanks for the compliments. There were mustangs running 14.7s and only trapping at 88-89 mph. It is a stock headed and no chip tuning whatsoever. I think the horrid 60' times are due to it falling on its face on launch. I think a tune would fix that quite easily. Ive read all of the stickies at the DIY PROM board and it is still a forgin language to me. I just dont get it.

You would be suprised. Dewey dropped .5 sec and gained 1mph with a custom chip after he added an open element and cat-back. The stock tune is that bad.

Thats the best way. It seems daunting when you read it but once you have it in your hands you start to pick up on it pretty quickly.

all of that is alot of money when i consider that $1,000 will get my new motor in and running. And that will get me into the low-mid 11s.

get it right Shifty , I have gone up 8mph since my first time at the track i gained 5mph and over a full second with tuning (and of course me getting better as a driver) picked up 3 more mph and .4 with headers, and more tuning.

and for those who are scared of it, it is not that hard, it is not technical, it is not black voodoo magic. yes it takes time, yes you will get frustrated at points, but in the end it is well worth it. and for what it is worth, with the single plane and cam (about the same as the LT1 cam) i am shooting for low 14's in the 95+ mph range. with heads and a little more cam, I am hoping to drop solidly into the 13's

got you beat dewey. I went from 16.97 @ 78 to 16.106 @ 85.34 with a CAI and no tune. lol. I am hoping that with a chip and better traction I am hoping for mid 15's on a stock 305 TBI.
