IDLE Trouble

ok guys, here is the problem...... The car starts but will not idle. only can get it to idle if you peddle the gas. then it will idle. put it in drive and give er' gas and there is no power. I replaced the pump a couple years ago along with the filter. I replaced the relay and ECM recently b/c of some other problems. I am not sure where to start now? Sometimes at a light or when stopped the car will stall but start back up. any clues????

How many miles do you have on the car? There could be a few things that are causing your problems. Has your car had a tun-up ever? Is your TBI unit gummed up? Your IAC could not be working properly if it is all gummed up. I would take the unit off and clean out all of the little passages. Clean the IAC spring and put a clean drop of tranny fluid or oil on it when you are done. Here are a few other areas that could be causing your problem.

CTS sensor
ingition module
bad plug wires arcing
Bad 02 (doesn't always throw a code, especially if they are old or if it is the origonal one)

I would start with a full tune up if you suspec that your car has never had one. Even if that is not the problem it is preventative maintance if the car is due.

Ok well ever since the problem occured i have replaced all of the following...... due to breaking off a bolt in the intake manifold. New intake, replaced all gaskets etc., thermostat, cap, rotor, flushed the radiator. I have a new oil pressure switch but am hesitant to put it in b/c im not sure if this is the cause... got it b/c the gauge fluctuates......

instead of reconditioning the IAC, I think im going to buy a new one. is there any proper installation proceedures? Also, it is a 91 Camaro RS V8 305 with approx. 180,000 miles or so on it..... And the only time this problem occurs is when the engine is cold and then hot approaching a stoplight.
