Code 42 after MSD blaster coil???
OK I keep getting a code 42 ever since I installed the MSD blaster coil. When I first installed it the engine would start up then die emidiately. Tracked it to the MSD Coil wires not being tight enough to the coil so I zip tied the wire bundle to the coil and everything was fine. This code didn't come up untill a couple days after all of that. Any suggestions

How are the connectors themselves? When you say coil wires, I assume you are talking stock wires. Or are you running an MSD 6 w/ msd harness? If the clips are brocken on the connectors, then new connectors is the best way to go, or the zip ties if they do not bother you. Try cleaning them as well

I think if he would relocate the wires elsewhere his problem would go away. They are getting interference from the coil and that is giving him the code 42.

Its all just the stock stuff except the MSD blaster coil. Granted the cap and rotor are Accel and the 8.8mm Accel plug wires. I'll clean everything with electrical cleaner in the morning and see what happens.

Well I cleaned all the connections and disconnected the ground at the battery to clear the codes. Still the code popped up almost emmidiately...now what? I hate having electrical problems cause they could be anywhere.

unplug your trik coil and plug in the stock coil....see if things return to normal.

I tried that but I just forgot to mention it. Nothing seems to be affected by the code but its a PITA with the light on all the time.

Ok I figured it out....I guess I forgot to reconnect the tan wire for the distributor when I was setting the timing.
