New Air Intake

I took a TPI intake I bought of off ebay and hooked it up with the TBI truck intake I got off ebay as well. I think this probably works better than an open air element because it is getting cold air from in front of the radiator. Take a look...

How is hood clearance on that cold air intake. I saw those on ebay as well and I was thinking of getting one for the TransAm to see if it would work better then the Open Air Element HAI.

that's looks very cool.

i've seen those and wondered if they'd fit under the hood. obviously, they do.

have you looked into making it ram air? there's a guy on ebay who was selling sheet model boxes to fit the bottom of the air intakes pretty cheap. i can't find the link right now.

I'm looking to do something similar on my firebird. I'd love to find a hat similar to yours, but with the inlet coming straight out.

Yea I have seen the ram-air boxes and I am thinking about getting those as well. I have no problems with hood clearance. The bonnet is from the TBI cold air intake you can find on ebay which fits just fine on our cars as well as the trucks. Yea I love this, you guys should try it.

: What size air filter does this intake use and brand if permissible?

It uses 2 small rectangle ones. Just look up the part number for an 88 350 TPI and its that one.

The TPI air intake will fit in any camaro becuase the bodies are all the same. The bonnet doesn't sit up any higher than an open air element.

I bought one of those of off ebay. but not the chrome one its the black one. it didnt fit under the hood. I guess the people that were selling the chrome hat stopped selling them. So what i did is that i went to the junk yard and got a hat of one of those cadillacs around 89-91-92 something like that. In stead of waisting the money on getting one of those, go to the junk yard get a hat of off one of those cadillacs , go to home depot and get 3.5 in size pipe and one of those import intakes from disount and you have your self a nice cheap up grade. I think it runs cooler, more power. Nice custom work man.

i've been wondering if the bonnet off of a 5.2 or 5.7 grand cherokee would fit. it looks smoother and the angle on the inlet appears to be close to the inlet angle on the stock air cleaner. to do cold air on my firebird, i'm thinking i need to draw my air from the driver's side, so that angle would be ideal.

well my intake is angled to the washer fluid side. I also took of my right high beem, so that it can get some extra air. And when the car is of some heat exscapes from there.

No I haven't found a place to put the IAT yet. I am thinking about drilling a hole in the rubber piece and putting it there. Right now it is sitting near the back firewall.
