Code 53 where to look at solving
Hi
Yeah my car just passed inspection, NICE!! It drove there fine no problems or codes but on the way home I got a SES.
Code 23 and 53, I've already reconnected the MAT sensor. The mechanic had dropped it in the engine bay and just left it there ah well !!
I've also recently fitted a MSD coil and dropped a load of dry gas in the tank. I also caught the alternator wire whilst working and got a spark but after all these I had no codes.
Any suggestion as to what this might be, I don't understand what "system over voltage" means. The haynes manual sucks I know, and tells me the trouble code but nothing more. Any and all suggestions I'm gratefull for. Oh my drive belt is tight as well.
thanks in advance

I don't have a problem starting the car but theres a loose wire in the key area because theres an intermittent buzz that stops if you wiggle the key a little.
I'm going to go and disconnect the battery right now and let it reset. I'll do a search first on changing the ignition/key turny bit/whatever it's called. Unless you know a good thread to look into changing it. Thanks for your help again trickster.

If you'll do a search you'll turn up a couple that I have posted with diagrams as well as the one that Vader has posted. If you can't find them let me know.

Are you talking about me, Trickster?
If you do a search you can find out how to change the ignition lock cylinder, if that's your problem. I did it not too long ago. I wouldn't say that it is hard to do, but you do need a couple of special tools and some patience.

Besides, if he has to change his out he doesn't have to worry about the airbags like you did.
BTW, how is your ride behaving these days? Thread
