I can't believe how SLOW!! :(

i had a 305 tbi with a chip, underdrive pully, no airfilter, and exuast and ran a 11.00 at 60 mph in the 1/8 mile. i know i know, thats really slow but thats in a ext cab step-side truck.
i recently put a 350 with a the same pully, no chip, same exaust, and no air filter, and it ran a 11.00 at 62.5 mph. whats up with that crap????? it does have a vortec cam and i know all you guys are gonna hammer me about chip tuning, but i had a heads and (BIG) cam motor with just a hypertech chip in there and ran a 9.29 1/8mile which is a 14.60 for you 1/4 mile guys with that motor, but it was waisting gas.
so why would 45 more cubic inches and a roller cam still run as slow as the old 305 that had 220,000 miles???????

i know shifty you dont like that i have a truck on your 3rd gen board but same motor same motor same motor.............

Not my board but we will need to keep this strickly TBI (rules are rules). I think you are now realizing the importance of chip tuning and how drastically it can effect your set-up.

What heads does it have? If its got the swirl ports then youve really only added 45 more cubic inches that have to breathe through the restrictions.

*HINT* just dont say its a truck in your posts, just say that your working with tbi and we can all imagine that its just a very heavy thirdgen.

yes they do have the stock heads with performance valve job. but im sure that really didnt help. well i was running world torquer heads. i pocket ported them and put the 2.02-1.6 valve with a performance valve job. im sure they worked better but realisticly, they are just a gm replacement head apparently so i dont know how big of a difference they made. my problem with that motor was the heads had a diffrent bolt angle for the intake so it had a vacuum leak . what heads do you suggest "part number" if you have any?? or heads that will work with that mpfi from Eldelbrock.

I've been a fan of the Trick Flow heads for a while now, but the best heads out there are the AFR's. Vortecs of course are popular, but require special intake manifolds to work correctly.

You might want to look into Pro-topline's iron lighting heads. They flow within 3 cfm of AFR's in the same port size, and they only cost 850 ready to rock. But seriously chip tuning is probably going to be worth about 50 hp on your combo right now. It doesn't take anything to get you in a world of hurt HP wise with TBI. Just swaping a mild cam, or even another stock cam confuses the hell out of the the stock tune. Not to mention how far off alot of the truck tunes are from the factory.

yeah i guess im going to have to get on the ball with ordering all of my chip hardware to do my own burns. im sure that will be another compicated battle but it will be fun to learn. i wouldnt doubt getting getting 50 hp or so, but im sure i will lose it on buying 93 octane and less gas milage huh??

Awesome. BTW, just go to www.moates.net and get his TBI adaptor, a few atmel 29c256 chips, and his USB flash programmer. If you want to program with a laptop in the field and it doesn't have USB, the xtronics pocket programmer II is very good.
Pick up TunerPro and rock and roll.

After rereading that sentence about 10 times over, it finally dawned on me that he was talking 1/8 mile, not 1/4.... I was gonna say if all it took to bring an L03 to the 11's in the 1/4 was that setup, we'd all have one!

whew.
