It ran awful without chip tuning. After you get the chip down, its not too bad. On the stock chip it went 93 mph in the 1/4 mi, but Ive never really had the time to get it running correct since then. Ahhh one day...

I have the 350 with Vortec heads, LT4 Hot Cam and using a 454 TBI with . Still waiting for some parts to assemble the motor and drop it in the Camaro. I had a chip made with all the info regarding the engine. It will still need to be fine tuned when I get her running but if the EFI will not work then I will go with my back up plan on using a carb. As Chuck stated, a custom chip will be needed to make your engine run smooth.

big difference between a custom chip......and chip tuning.

A custom chip is just some one's best guess. Chip tuing is what you do to tune your vehicle to your particular combo. May I suggest the DIY prom board, and traxions intro to prom burning.

I'll be doing that as well. I have the cable and software to datalog once the car is running but still need to get the other equipement to "burn" a chip. I just needed a chip to get me close enough to fire the engine and drive for a while. My 92 Camaro will not be a daily driver since I have 2 othe vehilces to use.

The motor I would be doing this to would just require a best guess tune. I am not trying to squeeze hp out of it.

All it needs to do is spin the 38 inch swampers I have on my Blazer and get decent mileage.

Right now it is stock intake/headed, but has a Comp Cam in it, and it doesn't run all that great. It runs good, but needs a tune for the cam.

I am planning on later installing a set of stock Vortec heads on it, with a performer or performer rpm carb intake with an adapter plate (now that I know how much the GM Vortec TBI intake is).

Do you guys think that 350 ft lbs. is obtainable with this setup?:

350 TBI
.425/.440 lift cam with 252/260 duration
Vortec heads
Edelbrock Performer intake
TBI spacer
open element
Stock TBI unit
stock exhaust manifolds
2.5 inch y-pipe exhaust running to a single 3 inch with a CatCo cat and a Flowmaster

Do you guys think this could make about 300 hp and 350 ft lbs?

I have a '95 K1500 350 TBI on small 285/75/16s. I'm running a CompCam EX249H, stock everything else. I got somebodys "best guess" and its OK up to 3000/3500 and then its done. I should have done it myself.

If you are not willing to learn how to "burn your own", then a carb and recurved distributor will gain you better results. On the other hand, if you know how to tune a carb and recurve a distributor you already have the basics of tuning, you just have to apply it electronically.

I haven't done it yet, but after driving an '05, 6.0L, 5sp, 4.10s, 4x4, 2500 that couldn't get out of its own way because of "Torque Management".... I think this old TBI truck of mine may have more potential than I think.
