how to build my 350 tbi????
Ok, currently have my 305 tbi in my car.
what i have to use.
355 c.i. 2 bolt
performer egr tbi intake manifold.
lt1 cam and springs
questions, should i use the lt1 cam with 081 heads on this?
would 081 heads make too much compression?
would the lt1 cam be enough for a 355?
would the 081 heads with the 1.84 intake be enough?
i know i will need a new chip burned.
thank you for your inputs.

If the 350 has dished pistons then the 58cc chambers won't be too much. Should put you in the neiborhood of 9.5-9.8 you'll need to do the math to be sure. Those heads with that cam would be a good match for a mild motor. Should make 240-260ish HP and lots of bottom end torque. Whether or not it's "enough" is entirely up to what kind of power your wanting to make, and the times you want to run. I would think this combo would get you solid mid 14's.

i am wanting to use my stock throttle bodie and keep it low budget. i.e. less than 1,000 bucks. would i be letter off going with 083 heads if i can find em?
And the block itself did not come with a roller cam, does that make a difference?

I'm not familiar with what size chamber those heads have, but if you want an increase in compression then go with the smaller 58cc chambers, but be prepared to run 91 or higher octane. If your not wanting to tune your car your self (cost around 150$) then you might not want to change too much. Mail order chips can't acount for much beyond stock. Head, cam, intake swap would qualify as a major change.
You need to check your block and see if it is setup up for a roller cam. Later blocks, mostly one piece rear mains, have mounts for the spider cast into the middle of the lifter valley, and the area around the lifters is built higher and machined flat for the factory style roller lifters. If your block doesn't have this your only options are to run a hydraulic cam, or get retro lifters which are expensive.
Edit: I said retro rockers when I meant retro fit lifters....duh

Nope, not without using retro-fit lifters and they run 350 to 450$. They didn't start putting the roller provisions in till the mid 80's.

The head doesn't know what kind of cam is pushing it's valves, just as long as you don't push them down too far you won't have any problems. Around .460 lift and you need to check for clearance.

I've got the same setup in my full size van except I used a roller cam block. I am running a Q-jet though. With the TBI you will need major programing changes(Tried that one).
