I am going to swap my weak little tbi 305 in my 5-speed 92 RS for a 76 model .30 over 350 with GM performance parts vortec heads (so i can use my tbi unit) and a small cam.will the engine start and run before i upgrade my computer or adjust my fuel pressure.

 

It may start, its really hard to say though. it may take some playing with throttle with get it to catch, then it will only idle if there is enough adjustment in the IAC. As you know, every motor is diffrent, so no one here can even guess as to what your particular motor will do.

 

I'm sure you already know, but just in case you don't. You'll need a new flywheel to bolt to that 2 pc rms block.

 

yeah and im searching for a cheep one i can resurface or a new one.know anyone with an inexpensive piece they would part with...

 

mine ran ~ok, actually like a bat out of he** and it was fouled out plugs and your eyes would water standing behind it, backfired like a shotgun when I got an exhaust leak after like 50 miles and it guzzled gas killed O2 sensors

I had the fuel press up a little high but hey rich is better than lean

it is tuned better now but not great

I want a bigger cam but not going to do it till I get better at tuneing

I did just get 22 MPG on an 875 mile trip

Hehehe it may run.... I know when i did heads and cam on my 305 it didnt want to run but with a little coaxing it did. If I had to do it all over again, my first priority would be learn tuning cuz even out of the factory these tunes are junk. Good luck and have fun

i m getting a camaro form a guy i know and when we put in the 350 truck motor it ran but not good your setup it is dieffernt so i dont know but now mine is getting but the shop has taken 2 weeks more then they said it would so you should learn to burn your own chips first
