question on heads and intake for 305 to 350 swap

I am trying to be economical and dont want alot of power...I was going to use gm perf parts heads out of jegs#809-12558060($259 each) but they require a vortech style intake for my application i am going with tbi...the only thing i am worried about is the intake gasket leaking without the center bolt holes to hold the intake to the heads...has anyone done this or have any suggestions for a good setup...I currently have a 92rs with a 305...the engine is a 76 model 5.7 that i am having built.the intake they suggest is an edelbrock #350-2116 dual plane with a carb to tbi adapter...Im kinda new to this and am getting alot of diff suggestions and im getting confused...please help.....thanks

GM has a vortec TBI intake that retails for roughly $330. A cheaper option is to go with a carb intake and use an adapter plate.

hmmmm

OK my bad, I was sure Edelbrock had their Performer intake in a TBI version but I may be mistaken.

*lol* I don't think I'll worry about it myself until I get different heads. .and even that's not for sure right now.. since after all it would be a choice between ... heads for a 305 .. or... heads for a 350

They do but it doesn't work with vortec heads.

edelbrocks performer intake for vortech heads is only for carb applications...that gm intake is waay too expensive..i am just wondering about leakage of the intake gasket...I found some 97 vortech heads at a salvage yard i go to all the time for 100 a piece and my machinist said he would redo them for 75 a head.i think those are the same as the ones jegs sells.I may just go that route...what do you think

Buy the edelbrock vortec carb intake, then buy the TBI-carb adapter plate. That bolts a TBI to a carb intake. The Holley Square Bore TBI adapter that I bought had over 2" bores as well. That means lots of room for a bigger throttle body.

I just built a 350 for my truck sticking with the TBI for my off-road and speed needs. I ran a old style head with casting #343 and I took my intake to a good machine shop. They should be able to machine the holes for the center two bolt on the intake out for like $60. I was going to do that but grew impatient b/c they kept pushing it to the side. I needed to get the motor in my truck yesterday at the time. So I brought it home and got the file and dremel out and did it myself. It didn't turn out the prettiest but it works no leaks. Know I need to figure out how much horse power I am making I would like to know. Thats for another day.
