Late model 454 tbi owners, have a q.

For those who got the later 454 tbis from the yards...

Did any of you notice any sort of actuators hanging off the tbi or mounted to the throttle near the tbi, other then the usual stuff?

Some have governors on them. Mostly from the heavy duty truck applications.

I take it its basically just a servo of sorts that can override the throttle?

I'm not real familiar with them. Thinking about where I saw info on them, can't really remember. Maybe one of the truck forums.

Im still chugging away with the late model PCM and the code has some PID control algos in it for that and I was wondering exactly what it was.

i have the 1995-1996 GM TBI. i removed it. not sure what it purpose was. possibly a governor? appeared as a vacuum pull off or vac assist?

Did it actually have vac lines going to it?

Yes, its purpose appears to be as a governor.

it is two years ago but i will suggest it did have vac.. maybe it prevents the butterfly from snapping shut too quickly. that is a WAG.
