Actual Top Speed?
What is the actual top speed of a 91 RS L03 with a 700R4 and a 2.73 rear end, factory? I mean if you have pretty long strech. I know about the speed cut off (which my car seems to lack....) but what is the vehicle capable of? Thanks.

THE SPEED OF LIGHT
I am thinking with few mods 130 is not out of the question. I had my pegged a lot and it was still going. Of corse I have few things done to it.

140 if you can get rid of the 700r4's need to shift into 3rd at over 2/3's throttle.

I have had mine down to the MPH on my 110 speedo and it was still pulling some. So, I replaced the 110 with a 145 from a 1990 IROC. Never tried again after that. My new ASCD SS hood does the little fiberglass bounce about 50, so... Can you get hood pins for these cars?
I wonder what you could do with a T56 and 3.23? More or less?
What do you mean by: "140 if you can get rid of the 700r4's need to shift into 3rd at over 2/3's throttle." ?

Hehehe. Sweet van motor, man. I may have to try building one like that. How much you got in it?
I know this is a Honda, but we were in Orlando this summer and I was driving my brother's Oddessy. We got behind my dad by a several hundred yards because of the traffic. (He is driving my mom's 5.7L Chevy Express 1500 conversion van) My brother and his wife are ribbing me for being behind, they say I need to catch up or I'll lose them. Not in a nice way, but a joking/sarcastic manner, insulting my driving abilities. So, I scan the area for cops, stomp it to the floor, and don't let of till I get behind my dad. Somewhere in the 6-8 lane changes, I looked at the speedo as it swings past 105. That was about 2/3's of the way to my dad, so I never looked back at it. That thing weaves in traffic pretty well.
They never told me to catch up the whole trip, but they did let me dirve....

you guys wont believe this. but not to long after i did the 5-speed swap in my bird. i took it down I-95 and i pegged the speedo at 140. but now for the kicker. i knew my speedo was off but i didnt know how much, so the next i drove along side my dad and found out how much my speedo is off. its off by ten. when im doing 60 im actually doing 70. with that being said. that means that i was doing 150. .
they are graduated... so its off by 10 @ 60mph... its probably more at higher speeds... when mine says 70 im doing 60, but at 100 im only doing 82.... so its 10 off @ 70 and 18 off @ 100...

ok im not a math wizard actually i plane out suck at math. correct me if im wrong. by what your saying, does that mean i was going faster than 150?
quite possibly... my rearend swap put my speedo gears at 18% high... so im going 18% slower than my speedo says... yours seems to be the opposite... yours looks about 16% positive... so by math, if you are reading 16% high, then you were actually going about 162.4... i doubt it though... i dont think youve got enough horsepower to push that 3400lb car that fast unless you were drafting someone... lol or going down hill...

no i wasnt drafting. i have 3.42 gears, with the 5 speed. but i dont know whats in the 5 speed. as far as horsepower. its a lo3. granite its not stock. but who knows. i guess the only wayt to find out is get the right speedo gears and run it again.
the final gear in your T5 is probably a .63... it could be a .75. If its the .63, your speed @ 5000 rpm is 179, so at about 4500rpm you would be around 161-162... if you have the .75, you were barely hitting 150 @ 5000rpm but im not sure if a stock LO3 has enough horses to push the car that fast with the tire friction, drag co-effecient and wind resistance.. maybe 150mph, on a good day with wind headed the same direction as you...

its not a stock lo3, and i think i was about 5000 rpms. i cant remember exactly. but still if the car was going 150. thats haulin a$$. i dont think ill attempt that one again at least not until i get suspension work done.

Hey, SchwarzCamaroRS, what about a LS1 with about 350 and a T56 with 3.23 gears? What could hit in theory with that setup?

I hit 140mph with mine. Funny thing was how low we were sitting at speed with the aerodynamics working. I'd say it pushed us down 2- 3 inches at that speed. Out here we have some backroads with long stretches, no traffic, and no cops so I have opened her up on some clear/sunny days. One thing my Highway Patrol friend warns though, at that speed it can be a felony and most importantly have a lot of room to slow down as that is what bothers him on high speed pursuits. Anymore, he says, he'll only chase people up to 100, then let them go. He has seen too many high speed crashes. By the way, he has seen ALOT of our ThirdGens smashed up over the years and he says that they are good cars because they hold up well even in a head-on. A couple of years ago, a lady was hit head on by a Honda Accord while driving her Third Gen. She walked away and the other lady died. Anyway, cool, clear and flat - 140 seems achievable, but make sure you can stop. Replace those old rubber brake lines before you try it out!

I plan to do a complete brake replacement with 1LE stuff and aftermarket lines before I bust 100 again. Rear disks, too. There is just too much stuff that can go wrong at high speed. A really good set of tires would be a good idea, too. My car is the only thing I have to drive and I have a bit of money in it to wreak.

I had mine in the 140 range at PIR, I had more in it, but ran out of straight before I came into the turn 7-8 complex.

it takes no time at all for my car to peg the speedo needle (91 110 speedo) on the trip meter...
I am getting there, slowly but surely. Is your car green, btw? Oh, wait. That Vert LS1 m6 had a 160 mph speedo...I think 140 would be scary. My springs are all funky... lol
you could prolly hit 160... maybe 170 with that setup... MAYBE... if the winds were right and you found a road long enough and flat enough... with the gears, 6000rpm in 6th gear is CRAZY fast... well over 170... with 3.23's and a 6000rpm redline, you could potentially go 170 with a 700R4... too bad you couldnt unless you had over 350/400 horses... lol

I have been thinking about save for the next 2 or so years and get a LS7 . That should get me to 170. 7000 RPM max. YEAH!!!
Wouldn't that be like 180-190 if I strap on a Paxton with about 10 lbs boost??
