For Anyone Wondering...

Anyone that wants to know what happened with my motor after it started pulling rocker studs. I'm going home for thanksgiving break from school this friday and am pulling the heads off and getting them over to the machine shop to get screw-ins installed.

Should be no reason I can't get it back up and running before my break is over as long as the shop gets them done pretty quick.

I have a digital camera at home so I'll take some pictures of it and post them, maybe even a nice video of that ZZ4 cam rumbling. Some may be surprised at how tame it sounds. Let's hope this goes more smoothly than the first time haha.

later
Jim

This is a common problem with press in studs and high lift cams. I think I will have to do the same thing on my "project 187" heads . Keep us posted Bron.

Yeah, I will Shifty. I definitely should not have chanced it especially with the kind of miles the heads had, and the larger valve springs I put on.

You by any chance porting some heads Shifty?

Make sure you work the valves too (backcut intake, round face corners on exh).

Maybe

I at least want to have some quantifiable data showing the before and after flow numbers of a stock/ported 187 head. I won't be able to validate any improvement at the track seeing how I won't run the car again with untouched heads.

Now there's a new way of using swirl ports, we always called them boat anchors, now they can be poor man's rebar too.

I haven't done much to the heads. I'd get the valves worked but to be honest, the car doesn't run and I have ZERO dollars, I'll be coasting on credit just to get the screw-ins and gaskets.

Shifty it'll be interesting to see how much flow you can get out of them.

Oh yeah, with the pictures I'll post you guys can tell me what you think of my new 'vert top too, got it put on a few months ago. Looks great actually, it better for 1k bucks though.

Bummer to have the car so close yet so far so to speak. I feel your pain cash wise as I always end up saving for a project only to see something around the house getting it.

If Bob's EBL was out now we'd really feel the pinch.

Hope it works out well this time. What studs did you finally choose?

I didn't choose any yet, once I get home I'm just going to go over to the machine shop and talk to my guy. I'll see what he's got and figure it out from there I guess.

As soon as that EBL board comes out, I'm going to jump all over it.

RBob's Embedded Locker's board with Prevost's HUD. Go over to the DIY Prom board and check iit out there's a huge thread on it. It will push TBI tuning to an all new level.
