boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
ive been searching on this topic and i see mixed answers about boring out this intake to 2". can you do this without running into water jacket? ive seen pictures on this site showing it done but others say differently. could the castings vary and some are ok and others are not ok?
thanks

Re: boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
I bought a used 3704 and I'm not sure if it is bored out or not
I'm taking my block to the shop this coming up Monday and if i don't need to take my intake that would be great. I used measuring tape and it measures 2 inch across (50mm) but i have a feeling its not due to the fact that i lack some tools to properly measure it.
here's a picture

Let me know what you guys think
Thanks

I didn't think it was thanks for looking. Should I go 50mm or 47mm I'm using stock tb.

If using using the stock tbi, leave it alone. Unless you think you might want a bigger throttle body later. Then u might want to bore it while its off.

Re: boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
I read somewhere on here that the stock 3704 bores are smaller than stocks. If it won't matter with stock tb then there's a dime I saved. Thanks

Just had mine bored to fit a 50mm throttle body and it went into the water jacket...luck that I bought a used one to try this on. Work was done by a reputable machine shop.

Re: boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
I dont think that u will actually need bigger bores and TB unless u want a big motor producing more than 300hp to the crank people say the stock TB with ultimate tbi mods will support up to 280 hp going bigger on a stock 305 or 350 tbi is just not worth it unless u want more horses than what the stock unit will support, i really dont see the point in the E. Performer TBI since in my opinion its a copy of the stock one that came on the engine already, im sure they flow pretty much the same.

Re: boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
I might do this when I have my motor out and tore down when I eventually do the heads and stuff. But until then im going to order my 2" adapter to manifold and run the holley tbi and see what it does.

Re: boring out edelbrock 3704 tbi manifold
how can there be a water jacket on the top mounting flange ???? I'm a machinist and don't understand this one.... at MOST you are only taking out .156 thousandths of an inch around the existing bores (holes) ?????????
