Would I notice an increase in power if I...

buy one of those Edelbrock Intake Manifolds for our cars?

I saw on really cheap today at the auto parts store, like 130 bucks, it shouldnt be that hard of a job to do if I wanna replace it myself...

Anyway my main question is how much hp increase would I see by going this route? I'll be ordering my Lt1 cam stuff pretty soon so I can get this car ready. I may do a few other things such as 3.42s and a bit more exhaust work before I go with the cam set...

Thanks

You saw the edelbrock performer TBI intake for $130? That is a good price.

It was probably just a performer, but now that I think about it, wouldnt it be better to pay $130 for the carb one and get an adapter plate, or is it not worth it?

Until you do it all - ditch the stock heads, get headers, hi flo cat, and a cam - no single replacement piece will give you much. And when you do it all, you'll have to spend alot of time tuning the chip (unless you remove ECM and go carb).

I did it all on mine - took me months to get a chip made that would let it run at all, and it is still no better. The chip is holding it back - I'm removing ECM and going carb this spring when emissions are gone so I can finally feel something out of my labor.

You've got me scared now, my car is a daily driver and I planned on tuning it myself after doing all the stuff mentioned. I surely don't have months to program it and get it running properly.

Don't give up. Perhaps you are missing overlooking something. I would send Fast355, Dewey316, JPrevost, or Dimented24x7 a series of your data logs and they can point you in the right direction. It is easy to overlook something.

Well, I didn't tune my own - I had someone else do it - I haven't the time nor the patience to do it myself - the only computer I want to mess with is this one I'm typing on, and only so I can stay in touch with TGO!

He spent 2 months on my chip - and only got it running - it's really rich, and has no more power than before the $1200 in mods. On my 1990 I did LT1 cam, headers, VaFPR, 1.6 rollertip rockers, ported/polished #416 heads, gutted cat, carb intake and adapter. I can feel the power trapped in there, but the chip won't let it out. A new Edelbrock will let it out in a few months!

There's too many computers out there controlling my life already - with work, kids, bills, and everyday life hassles, driving the Camaro is one of a few pleasures for me. The new 1992 I'm currently building went carbed 350, and I love it! The only thing controlling it is my foot!
