I've just recently realized that I've been registered on this site for about 2 years now, and in that time I've gone from looking at the screen with metaphorical x's over my eyes, to what I would consider to be an intermediatarily(oh it is SO a word) in depth understandstanding of just about every aspect of these cars, as well as at least a beyond novice approach to literally any other car I look at these days.

this is almost 100% due to thirdgen.org, and people like shifty, fast355, slade, zephyr, snflupicus, and plethora of others that I literally just can't remember, because there is in fact, so many.

I really just wanted to thank everyone for helping me, directly or indirectly, go from literally wondering where I put the oil in(those engine oil caps could be misleading, after all) to the point I'm at today, wherever that is.

so thank you, everyone.

oh, and sorry if this is off topic .

Just remember to be patient with those that end up "learning from you". Too often you see individuals with extensive experience belittle others and mock their understanding of cars when they have simple questions. No one is born with this stuff and we all must learn. Half the fun is sharing it with others and seeing progress from those you teach. We all learn new things everyday and I think I am learning more now than I have ever before. There is no such thing as a stupid question (well except for some things in the street racing board ) so be kind to those that ask. You often learn more than you initially thought by helping others. In the end, that is the greatest reward in the world of hot rodding. TGO is an amazing technical resource. The way to give back (from all the free stuff we read everyday) is to help others. This is an exciting time for TGO and especially the TBI crowd. TGO has grown just enough to attract the most skilled people out there. That combined skill has challenged the “hearsay” that plagues the automotive world. Members feed on that and make better (and cheaper) choices in the end.

This is my second account, forgot my first one when I stopped coming for a year when I sold my camaro. Then found it was still helpful since I bought another tbi car. So if you count the first one I've been on since 02

This is my second account as well. I changed internet providers, my old email address was dissolved, and I accidentally requested a password change while trying to log-in. The end of Fast305. I had a 350 at the time so I re-registered as Fast355. Fast305 is about 2-3 years old. I have been on Chevytalk.com since 2002 or so. I have had other numberous accounts on other forums.

The Vmag forum that became AstroSafari.net as I used to have a 4.3 TBI Astro.

Just checked, I initially registered in 2003 when I was working on several thirdgens that were not mine and looking for a TBI setup (that used to be swapped like crazy on here in a quest for more HP from an otherwise stock 305, LOL).

This site's great. And well put up there Shifty.

I've been on here for quite some time, when I came here i knew some basic stuff, had only done exhaust work before this on my first car which was a 94 Thunderbird 4.6 lord rest her soul haha. I have to say this is the best resource of pretty much anywhere for tech info on thirdgens especially but even just learning mechanic work.

You look over on the DIY-Prom board adn there's nowhere else that even touches the kind of knowledge the guys on here have with that stuff.

I think most of the guys I learned the ropes from back then have left or don't post much anymore. But there's always new crops of those guys stepping up all the time, and its great to see.

Great thread! I agree completely with everyone here. I was the same way when I started out. If my car stopped working and the gas tank did not read "E" I was screwed. Now I'd like to try rebuilding an engine, LOL. I've even made some local friends in the process (waves at Snflupigus and azvolfan) just from being here! The "TGO is like crack" comment is dead on if you ask me. Unfortunatly though, my addiction got too fierce, and one morning I woke up with a hangover in an alley with "Moderator" under my name. Crack kills!

Touche, ya got me. I dont think I've seen Dominic out at anything local though. You gotta come out this season Ronny, we should be having some pretty cool track gatherings and such, and then look into Thirdgenfest, gotta represent the TBI, guys come from all over for that, some came from as far as Missouri last year if I remember right.

my kingdom for a thirdgen gathering matching something like the 914 crowd...

We are lucky to have the weather and a lot of people down in these parts... I'm sure there are some chitowners and some people everywhere else. Too bad there isnt a member locator.

O wait.... remembering the 914 guys again...

Looks like there are some iroc guys... maybe we need a tbi group.
