Ram air hood in progress
I didn't feel like waiting any longer, to design the ram air I had planned on doing, need more time off to do it.
So I went with an open air element, traced down one store that had a 14x5 tall element in stock, and put on my old backup hood.
First two pictures are with the hood on, 14x3 element underneath, and a sheet of plastic, riveted in and duct taped, to cover the big cut out hole, and protect from the rain (which, **** ya not, came five minutes after I had finished).

One big problem though, I have the stock intake manifold, plus my air cleaner base is not a raised one, so I am still trying to figure out how to make the shield surrounding the air cleaner and blocking off engine compartment heat, i.e. just allowing cold air.
Up front I'm running in to issues with pulleys, to the side the heater valve, out back a little bit tight with the distributor.

Cool!.
Is the goal to cut your hood to engineer some way of ducting external air directly to the TB with a RAI or RAII look?

Yup, later on I'll enclose the air cleaner. For now I'll be happy with having a smooth looking ram air setup.
Unfortunately the air filter barely sticks out, even a 14x5 sits rather low.
So what I'll do is cut the top layer of sheet metal at the very front of the hood, and create a "channel" right there, to grab the air at high incoming pressure and guide it to the air filter.

OK, got done with stage 1.
Layed down a few layers on the sides, so what's left is now a rectangle shape opening in the middle. I ran out of fiberglass resin
so gotta finish it all tomorrow.
And I can say, I sure could use a TBI spacer, or a taller intake manifold.

Those are either open or four barrel spacers, not two barrel TBI spacers.
Damn rain here in San Diego has caused some serious delays for me, unfortunately no room in my garage right now, need to have an old hobby car of mine towed away or something to make room for my babe.
