I'm an open element case but have you looked at running the second hose under the first?

the dual snorkels are still fairly restictive. they flow pretty good but not as good as an open element. if you dont mind my asking why dont you want to go the open element route(im curious)

well for some reason i find my car performs better with colder air from the single snorkel i have now compared to hot air. plus i just like the look of the scoops and hoses even though it can get messy.

if i ran the second hose under the first where could i put the scoop?

I'm facing that dilema right now too. I have not put hoses on it yet (don't have any), but I am considering removing the coolant reservoir and replacing it with a smaller one from a different car to gain some extra space, but I haven't thought real hard about it yet....I'm running out of money.

Ebay. They don't come cheap, but I bought mine for $60. Just the air cleaner and lid though. Of course I ditched the lid for the taller truck lid.

I went the dual snorkel route for cold air also. As it sits now with no hoses, its warm air intake, and I can feel it. After sitting at a light and cooking, its like a slug until the hot air clears out. HoWeVeR, as long as the temp guage is readin about 180, it revs more then it ever wanted to with the single snorkel.

As for making it cold air, I'm having a terrible time trying to find a passengar side scoop. PLUS, the a/c junk and overflow tank completely block anything.
If I do not relocate the overflow someplace else or get a smaller one, I may venture at getting a 4th gen overflow. They mount underneath the battery. A perfect solution, but modding to fit looks like a pain.

first off does the truck cover fit under a stock firebird hood?

second what if the driver side hose it hooked up then leave the passenger side open then its somewhat cold and somewhat warm so you have somewhat cooler air with overall double the airflow.

I thought about hooking up the drivers side and leaving go the passengar side, but I was afraid of some kind of wierd vacuum affect. Something like cold air being more dense would want to be sucked back out the open passenger side. I could just be paranoid .

i dont think so because cold air is just more dense so it would sink lower if anything

Check with ramairbox.com (Air Inlet Systems). One of their dual snorkels may be easier to fit, and would definitely flow better. Would need a drop base with a stock hood.
Hooking up the drivers side tube only wouldn't make any diff, except the engine wouldn't be getting as cool a charge as if both were hooked up. The side with the least resistance(probably the passenger side) will draw more air, unless the tube(s) are set up for ram.
