lifter or cam problem?
ok so there is a extreme annoying clicking, ticking, tapping noise coming from my top end...ive asked around and have basically narrowed it down to a lifter or worn cam lobe...so i got new lifters on the way...my question...cam...as long as im takin stuff off i thought about changing out the cam...I already have a TBIchips.com tuned chip...im guessing id have to send it back for reflashing or new tuned chip...and cam ....whats a good cheap cam with a mild chop?,,,nothing too over the top, something than will sound mean but not cost too much and kill my already lovely gas mileage...any help greatly appreciated

I would also check valve lash. The lifters may be fine but you may have a rocker out of lash. Any cam swap will require you do burn your own chips. Off the shelf chips are only a stab in the dark and will not accurately give you the tune that you need.

Check the lifters if you can.
Just fought this, and it ended up being the lifters, and cam. Something happened to the back lobe, passenger side. Ate it up.
Been reading in all the mags about most oils now days not having all the
anti-wear lubricants, because of emissions. Most recommend Rotella, or at
least an additive. Comp has a additive they recommend now with every oil change, if your using a regular oil.
I know of three cams, Comp, if that matters, that have lost the rear lobe, passenger side, in the last year. 3 different engines, brands, etc. My BBC, a Ford, and a Pontiac.
Just For what its worth.
Good Luck.
