Lost in TBI Hell
SO crossfire was a missfire from the start. I switched to a TBI for added reliablility and performance. Well so far the only thing i have is a intact TBI setup. i got the computer in, its wired right and it runs like garbage about as well as the crossfire. Any help would be nice. Heres what i have and what i have tried.
305 TBI from a 91 camaro with matching ECM all wiring is correct, all trouble codes have been troubleshot.
Mild Cam, 3" drop air cleaner, stock tranny and gears.
Aftermarket TBIchips.com he says he matched it to the cam.
What i've tried--TPS dialed within spec, its adjustable based upon the computer. Throttle plate set screew has the idle at 1300rpm in park 2100 in Nuetral. timing when i use the light seems ok, it a little advanced 93 octane.
what ive accomplished. engine like to stall when put into drive, likes to stall instead of idle, rpm jumps untill 3300 rpm is reached. when accelerating motor does either low rpm or jumps straight to 4000 rpm. seems like the engine spins but theres no power to the wheels. I have 2.73 with a posi but even if i cheat i cant make enough torque to spin the wheels up. brake stand.
Are the things I'm seeing a function of the tunning/timing or is it the chip, it almost seems like the car ran better on the stock chip. Please someone help. I have a 350 with a q-jet but please dont offer that as the solution, id like to wait 2-3 years and save money for better parts and rebuild kit.

TBIchips.com can get try to match your cam, but im not sure how exactly he can do that without datalogging, he can guess what it might do, but he cant know for sure. If you have troubleshot every problem, than you might have to get into tuning your own chipp, doing your own datalogging, it sounds like to me that your cam has thrown your car threw a hoop, and you need to dial in you fuel tables to your exact engine, by datalogging and tuning, even a mild cam without the right tuning can make your car run like crap.
i also converted from CF to a 7.4L TB. one thing for sure is the IAC steps need to be changed since only one IAC vs two in CF. that may affect idle. the IAC routine throttle follower values are differrent. i suspect the AE values very considerably due to manifold configueration. what ECU are you using? you may need to move to a 7747 that allows tuning. not sure what you can do with a stock 1983 CF ECU.

7.4 L well thats quite a jump from where i'm at. i rewired the whole harness.though. i cut the two connectors and made it one. im using a 91 TBI computer with a aftermarket chip, even the stock chip though didnt do anything for me. i think its the cam chip combo
my cam is
intake lift valve 420
exhust 442
durration
intake 262 degrees
exhust 272
with 204 degree duration

I have used that cam in atleast a dozen TBI builds. No problems out of any of them.

ok
so what you say then is if i want it to run correct then i need to do my own chip tunning. sounds like a project. and your right with 15-20 degrees it does run but lacks alot of power.
