Someone please help!!

Will any aftermarket 14x3" drop base air cleaner fit under the hood of my RS? I started another post that no one is replying to...I want to order the Edlebrock Elite 14x3 from Summit, but before I do I wanna make sure it will fit! The FAQ section on the open element air cleaners states that a 3" drop base SHOULD FIT...

But, WILL IT? Its the #4207 Elite air cleaner...thanks to anyone who can help. And yes, I did a damn search!

Mine rubs a bit, but you should be good. I also don't have any deadener under my hood.

Is that K&N extreme higher than normal? I don't want to get rid of my sound deadener under the hood, either...

Someone help! If I have to get a 2.5" filter, I guess it doesn't make much difference...

Just so I don't get flamed for supposedly not doing a search, I am officially annoyed to all hell now because of the search I am doing right now!

Some people say a 1" drop base with a 14x3 is fine. Others say its too tight. Meanwhile, some people claim that you can do a 14x3 with a non drop base and you'll have hood clearance...others say no.

So basically, I'm screwed at the moment! I don't want to mess around with spacers, and I don't want problems. It just happens that the only open element I really like is the Edelbrock Elite, which is a 1" drop base only...part #4207.

Does anyone have this? Can anyone tell me what the hell I should do? I want to get my Summit order ready, but feel like I shouldn't because if the damn thing doesn't fit right, I'll have to return it. If I buy it from Auto Zone, I pay about $30-40 more with the K&N I'm adding to it, but at least the return process is easy.

ARGH. Any help is appreciated!

A 14x3 non drop base will work fine and will clear under the hood. Likewise, a 14x3 drop base will also work but will interfere slightly with your distributor. I run a 14x3 drop base, with the gold ring, with a 1/2" spacer and with the Edelbrock TBI intake (1/4" taller than stock) and my stock hood shuts. It is close but it fits fine.

I've seen people mention that the swap might necessitate the bending of the coil bracket, but I haven't seen anyone mention distributor clearance. When I do a search, its odd because I've never seen a part like this where some people say "it fits" and others say "no way..."

I guess I need to get a spacer...does anyone have a part # for a spacer that will fit a TBI? I figure if I get a 1" spacer, that offsets the 1" drop base of the open element I want, and then I'm back to squre one with a 14x3 that fits under the damn hood!

Can anyone tell me a part #, or show me where to get a spacer that fits a TBI? Again, thanks to anyone who can help...for someone new to TBI, doing a search on this can cause more questions than it answers!
