Help!! car ran then died
Hey guys... new to this website.. I have a '90 L03 tbi... bought the car running with a decent body for $500... replaced fly wheel, torque convertor( they were making terrible noises),starter, msd cap, rotor, and wires, distributor, plugs and set the timing to 4*... car started and ran fine... took a test drive after work to feel how it ran.... wouldn't kick down right, felt really week, and after I got it back to the shop, I left it running for a bit to listen to it and it started to sound like it was missing bad and died... started right up and died again... injectors are spraying but now it won't start at all... I've looked up and down the boards but can't find anything related to this... any help would be greatly appreciated..
thanks!
thanks!

make sure its getting spark first but it sounds like it could be the rotor button. Only reason i say that i had an old charger it was running fine then it started missing bad i made it home rolling black smoke couldnt find anything wrong. I pulled the cap and the button fell out broke in half. I dont know how it was running. Im more than likely wrong on this one but its all i can think of.

ok just to update on the problem... I found out that the car will start after it has died in 10-15 minutes... while it was running, when it started sputtering, my buddy tapped on the fuel pressure regulator with a wrench and it would stop sputtering, then like 5 seconds later it would act up again... he thinks i should get a new regulator and replace the fuel pump... does this sound right to any of you guys who may have had something like this happen before?? if so then which regulator and pump should I go with??

are your plug wires on correctly ?
if the coolant sensor on the intake manifold is bad it can cause it to run like total crap.... just a thought
is it throwing any codes ?

the plug wires are on correct and the timing is set to 4* advance. I did notice when I was installing my headers that the collant sensor looked a little worn so I will prob replace that today. It is throwing some codes I just haven't read much on how to check them yet. I have the haynes manual for my car but it doesn't say how to identify the codes or maybe im just stupid haha.. anyways i'll keep you posted on how things are going

OK, updating my ongoing problem... i bought a actron fuel pressure tester and hooked into the fuel line by the alternator. while car was running fine it would run about 11-12 psi... when it started sputtering and would eventually die, fuel pressure wouldnt change... i did notice that the injectors kinda pulsate when idling and when my problem persists about 10-15 minutes later it seems like they cut off and continue spraying... ive recently changed fuel pump, coil, coolant sensor on the intake and on the head.. i forgot what they are called but those yea haha... sorry to be such a noob at this but ive never had this problem...

ok next update... sorry to keep bugging with this problem but I am about ready to drive this car off a cliff... My problem is my car will start fine, run for about fifteen minutes in park and then start sputtering real bad and die... when I look at the injectors it looks like they stop spraying and start up again... I bought a fuel pressure tester and my psi stays within 11-12 psi while this problem occurs... eventually the car will die and its heck trying to get it started... sometimes it will start but sputter and die... sometimes it will start and run for a bit then die... then i notice that the injectors aren't spraying when i try to start it again and at times, the injectors are spraying too much... Like a heck of alot more than usual and it won't start... here's a list of parts I have replaced so far...
MSD cap, rotor, and wires
new distributor OE brand
starter
flywheel
torque convertor
knock sensor
MAT sensor
coolant sensor on the head and the one on the intake
coil
fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator with all new gaskets
battery
installed headers
I have also set the timing twice with a gun and unplugging the connector to the EST i believe it's called... I have it set at 4* advanced...
Does this ound like a ECM gone bad or what else am I missing??? it runs like crap and I don't know what else to check... I pulled codes after replacing the sensors and now all I get is code 15 and 42... even with these codes shouldn't my car still run ok??? just not grand... any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated... I love these third gens but I am about to get rid of this one and buy another!!
