Air induction
Air induction
Hey I had a homemade AIR INDUCTION on my 89 305 TBI camaro. My dad said that with the cold mornings of Rochester I should prolly take it off, cuz he didn't know what the cold would do to the start. So being a good boy I took it off. Now I miss the extra power it had and I want to put it back on. But I am worried about what my dad said. Would the cold air screw up my starts or anything else? OH yeah, I am also thinking about putting on a K&N air filter, is too much air bad?
why would cold mornings hurt it? its not a carb.

why do cold mornings hurt carbs, really, i dont know. i know my car runs rough when its cold, its tbi, with lots of air. do i have a problem here?
it doesnt really bother me because its fine when it finally warms up.

Cold air is just dense air to your engine. Denser air means a denser charge in your cylinders. I would think that the only way you could have "too much" air would be if you weren't giving it fuel to match - then you run lean, which is bad. On a naturally aspirated engine I don't think it's possible; on a blown engine it's very possible. Now if you're worried about icing... well, that may be a problem - but probably not. I've had my ram/cold-air setup through two winters and haven't had any problems... <knock on wood>
