HP gains/cash equation/gas mileage with these TBI mods
ok I want to hear some feedback from you: What kind of HP, ET's, and Gas mileage (very important to know)
1. K&N 14x3 open element
2. MSD 6al Ignition
3. MSD super conductor wires
4. MSD cap and rotor
5. MSD Blaster coil (enough power?)
6. 3.42 Posi-Traction
(I want mileage so no 3.73)
7. New Heads
(suggestions? Edelbrock? Sportsman II's?)
8. March underdrive pulleys
(I heard it causes temperature rise?)
9. Edelbrock TBI Intake (Suggestions?)
10. TurboCity TBI
11. Tranny Cooler
12. Edelbrock Header (Yes I will coat them)
13. Flowmaster Cat back exhaust
14. Jet stage II chip
15. Cam (Any suggestions?)
16. Fiberglass ram air hood with a custom built 'box' to 'ram' air into the open element.
Ok I know this is the ultimate wish list, but it will be a reality SOON so I need any and all advice.
Thanks again guys,
James

well, on the one hand alot of those mods technically can improve your gas mileage(gears and a few others excluded) practically though I would expect gas mileage to drop significantly.
First off your cars going to be alot faster, so your gonna be getting on it even more, believe me! Plus thoose gears really make a differnce, I have 3.73 and you can see my mods in my sig below. I average around 15-17 combined highway and city driving, and when I really dog it I've seen roughly 12-13 so good luck on keeping decent mileage.

K&N Open Air Element, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock Headers,Catco Hi Flow Cat, Edelbrock Exhaust, Hypertech Underdrive Pulley's, Jacobs Ignition, Fast Chip PROM, B&M Shift Kit, B&M Mega Shifter, 3.73 Rear with Auburn Limited Slip, KYB GR2 Gas Shocks and Struts, Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs, Edelbrock 3 Point Strut Tower Brace, Baer 13 in. Slotted Rotors with Metallic Pads, American Racing Torq Thrust II 16x8 Wheels with Toyo 245 50 VR 16 Tires, 3 in. Cowl Hood, A little weight here and a little weight there.

Now as far as HP I would think with all those mods you might see as much as 275 HP. In a recent hot rod(i think) magazine they got a 305 tpi(emissions legal) to put out well over 300 RWHP with thoose mods, so if you factor in some loss for the crappy TBI I think around 275 is reasonable.
You may want to consider getting the entire edelbrock setup, it's pretty cost effective, and you can probaly get it as a package deal. Plus their cam is setup to work well with their heads etc.
No problems at all with the underdrive pulley's in my car(hypertech).
Also I would definetly upgrade the rest of the supension as well as the wheels/tires and brakes. The stock suspension is very inadequate and the brakes especially so. shift kit too. hope this **** helps. later

Do you mean a 275 hp gain? Because I have looked at many of the mods and the heads alone im looking at 75-125 horsepower, right? Not to mention exhaust and intake and bigger TBI Etc... etc... To only gain 100 horsepower doesn't seem right?
Let me know thanks again,
James

i get about 22mpg doing mixed driving in my car. you can see all the stuff i've strapped on in my sig. i would suggest either the edlebrock or trick flow heads. i got 1.6 rockers instead of a new cam. doing a cam install was more$$$$ than i wanted to spend.
i will be proving that the stock cam can carry a car into the 13's as soon as the tracks around here open back up in the spring.
you will have to consider a good set of tiresif you do all these mods.
i think that 300hp may be tough to do, but 250 at the rear wheels can be done.
my et + mp + weight calculates about 225hp at the wheels.
