I ran my RPO's and the code "VAN" means assembled in Van Nuys CA. Does this means it was even more of a ***** a s s L03 coming out of production b/c of emmissions crap??????

I doubt it, just cause they produce it in california does mean they stick more emmision crap on the engine. Cause a GM car could be made in Michigan and could be sold in California. I belive the emmision controls are all equally done on all the LO3's. Even the ones going to Cali. Does anyone else know different?

If your car was made in CA you may have some serious problems with the paint job. I think there is a tech article here but I know from first hand experience. The CA plant used a f---ed up paint process which causes "paint delamination". The paint just decides it doesn't want to be on the car anymore and just peels off. My dumb a$$ decided not to just get the whole car repainted at first....seems like I am going to have to get it done now anyway.

you are lucky, most van nuys cars have horrid paint or its just getting bad now, i can think of three thirdgeners locally who have prime examples

as for emissions, you have the same emissions equip. as any other lo3 there is nothing to my knowledge that was added to california cars except the surcharge

come to think of it, i tried patching a chip on my hood and the pain just started peeling and chipping off from the primer. so i primed over it and added the bra.
Paint job = 300 supplies plus labor, bra = $50.

But i think there were different specs on the cars meant to be sold in cali. nobody has refuted this or backed it up as of yet.
