wow it's been awhile since i've seen someone do this mod.I did it a few years back after I got my car.it worked pretty good it seemed to help out up top more than anything but I had to take it off after I put my STB on. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it seemed to get more debris in the upper part of my air cleaner.

Het Robertfrank...I left the metal mesh that came on the square filters on the TPI airbox, mainly because they have the rubber seal on them, so at least I wont get logs, and boulders in there...LOL...Right now, I am waiting on my 92 GM grile to get here, and am making a sheet metal insert to go in each place where the fog lights would be..I have used a dremmel tool to trim the inside of the airdam.....With the K and N filter, it seems to have a better seat of the pants fel to it, but then again look at what is was breathing thru in the first place...The opening on the hose is alot bigger than the old one, which has been brazed shut....Got more to do, but until new hood time this will work..Take care, Tom

Keep in mind I am not trying to be a critic , but I know that if it were mine, I would ditch the factory air cleaner assembly and use the two TPI style filters in the ends of the scoops. On the TBI, I would use the Caddy bonnet. It has a hypertech powercharger like bowl in the base of it that will unshroud area around the injectors and allow for more air flow. The Caddy TBI bonnet flows very well.

hey fast 355, not a bad idea at all...Of course this is what i had, and it was free......Right now, i am VERY happy, the difference is like night and day..Also, I have no place to put the square filters, all that has been gutted...Plus my sensor is in my stock breather case, so it is a bit more accurate on the air temp close to the TBI unit.Ok now where are you picking the air up...I can see what is on the tbi unit, but where does it feed from.........I would like to mod the injectors, so they are more open, but i was thinking along the line of raising the base on my air breather, am not real crazy about the way the caddy unit looks......Could you tell a difference by unshrouding the injector???? Thanks alot, Tom
BTW , can take a shot that is not so up close.....????

I will take the TBI bonnet off this afternoon and gets some shots of it. Kinda difficult to get a better shot with it on the van.

The only thing I don't like about the caddy bonnet is the shape of it. I think that if some one had good plastic fabbing skils were to cut it and make the bend in it straight it would look alot better.

Hey fast355, that is a big difference 8 rwhp.....Just curious, where are you picking the air up at???? Mine is a TPI box gutted, in the pics, I just could'nt see where yours comes in at.....In the future im going to do something that looks a little better, not to mention will work better, (Cowl Hood) but like I said I just cant beleive the difference..I have not done the chip or anything other than a k & n filter, accel cap, and rotor (Whole new distributor) and Flowmaster type muffler.......With premium, and octane booster it is incredible. (And the sound is SO Cool)...Dont get me wrong, its still a slow lil 305, but I am amazed by just the difference in cutting out the hole on the air breather box.....BTW ordered the AC delete pulley today from Summit, so that is nextweeks project...I will post the pics of the sheet metal for the ram air type setup, when I get it done...Take care, and thanks for the reply.......BTW, isnt it cool, how many different ways we all find to do the same thing

Hey Fast,
Got another question, what do you mean by "hypertech powrflow" area...???Is there a way you can photo the bottom of the bonnet. I did kinda look into this at the junk yard, but I kinda thought my way would flow better, I didnt think about unshrouding the injectors tho.....Damn now im not going to be happy till I figure a way to do that...LOL (You know how it is)..Thanks again, Tom
