i have a Lo5 350 in my camaro now and i wanted to get ideas on the best stock chip to use. I tryed using a caprice cop chip but the ecm didnt recognize the chip. would a 92 or 93 truck chip work or am i stuck getting one burned? thanks guys

I have been researching this one too. First of all what is the part number for your ECM?
YOu need to make sure the Cop chip was made for the same ECM. I was going to use the Cop chip for a 92-93 Caprice motor in my 91 camaro but the guys on this board told me the caprice used a different ECM.YOu need to make sure the Cop chip will work for your ECM. Also, I have gotten LOTS!!@! of wrong part numbers for COP chips. I still haven't gotten it straightened out. What size injectors are you using? The cop engine used the yellow /brown/ 68#. You may have gotten the chip for the standard caprice or a truck
which used only 61# injectors. Give me more info and maybe I can help.I am thinking about the same swap so I would like to know what you did.........bob

Well first off i have a 91. I am using the injectors out of a 92 caprice cop car and i have the prom and ecm also out of the same car. I am not sure about using the ecm from the caprice because i know it has a few other functions on it for low engine levels. Also im not sure about the wiring being the same as the ecm i curently have and i dont want to fry anything in the process. If you want any info or what i had to do be free to email me At my aol adress.I am assuming im loosing a far amount of power with the 305 chip i have but it does run fine with it i just want to see if i have a nother option besides getting a custom made chip witch i will do in the future after i get a goal of mods for my car.thanks
