Estimated time put into ultimate TBI mods?
Getting ready to do the ultimate TBI mods tomorrow...just wondering how long it took some of you guys who have done it? Any problems to watch for, or anything to pick up from the store before i take my tbi off besides the rebuild kit, extra base gasket, the famous cutting board for the tbi spacer? Any tips before i go into this? Thanks

If I remember right,I put about 4-5 hours into mine, plus the three times pulling the injector housing off to adjust the fuel pressure afterwards.

If you have an open element and a good aftermarket exhaust system, you should feel a difference.I did mine at the same time I added an open element and exhaust system.I bumped the timing up a couple degrees also and noticed a difference.I don't know what the difference would be in the tbi mods alone, but every little bit helps.I raised my fuel pressure up just a hair and could tell a difference. But I haven't had a chance to replace my old o2 sensor yet to check my fuel/air mixture.

What is the extra base gasket and why do you need it? I'm picking up a tbi tunep kit today as well and i'm also doing the tbi mods either today or tommorrow.

TAS--I can't get my scanner to do anything right.I have a friend coming over in a couple days to fix, then I'll post some pics.
And I believe factory set timing for our cars is 0* at idle with the EST connected.Be sure to unplug the EST before you check the timing.

The extra base gasket is to use when you make your tbi spacer. You have to have a gasket on top and bottom of the spacer. Anyone else have any other recommendations for this job?

Timing guns are pretty easy. You need to mark degrees on your damper, or buy tape for it. Then you clip a plug of the gun to the spark plug wire and the other plug of the gun you clip to the battery and adjust as neccesary. Sorry I don't have any specifics, I've seen it done a few times at the dealership I work at. Oh and make sure if your car is carbed to disconnect the vacuum advance. Don't quote me on this one, read the instruction manual.
