It will definitly make the car get up and go more but it wont be really loud unless you gut the cat or eliminate it. I would go with the edelbrock headers they sound sweet and they are cheaper but the slps are also very nice. You should expect probably 15-20hp from the headers and 10-15 from the exhaust its worth it though.

stock TBI with open element and full exaust should be in the 220-235 HP range.

I have a hard time saying stock TBI w/open element and full exhaust is in the 220-235hp range. First off I have exactly those mods with a shift kit, 3.08 rear, and hypertech "thermo master" POS chip. I'd say it's more like 210-220hp not much more than that. I have the SLP 1 5/8" and 3" full stainless. I would say that the open element made a huge difference over stock with the exhaust work. It is definatly worth it. On every car I would do exhaust work first just because it is usually worth at least 10hp.
Just a side note for everybody, I'm not an English majore but alot is spelled a lot and it's single plane, not plain. Another frequently misspelled word is edelbrock torquer, it's torker.

that is one hell of a stretch to believe that an exhaust and an air filter will give you that kind of a pick up. if it really worked like that you would all be running dead with me, and well that isn't looking too likely. a muffler is a muffler, not a tin miracle. when figuring how much power a mod will give you it is best to go to the track and find out what you gained, don't just add up the numbers on the boxes.

My meaningful mods are basically open element, Edelbrock TES headers, 3" cat and American Thunder cat-back. Based on trap speed and car weight, most calculations indicate roughly 220 hp. It definitely sounds loud and mean.
