When I bought my car from my cousin, he told me that the car was for some reason very fast (only mod was a computer chip), and ran 14s in the quarter mile. Is he full of b.s. or is their some truth to it? I'll find out on may 13 at Cordova, but would like to know now (so I don't make a fool of myself). By the way I've added a K&N, run valvoline ful synpower 5w-30, and octane boost.

You probably will make an *** of yourself. OUr cars feel fast until you ride in something faster..THAT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FAST! What did u drive before. My old car was an buick century with the 3.3(185hp) v6. And I felt that my old buick could beat my camaro to 60. Also my mom drives a '98 continental (with a 275hp stang motor
) and her can can run laps over mine any day
Now if he has exhaust and some internal engine mods than maybe. Who did he get the car from? Or does he know the complete history? If he doesn't know the history than maybe it is faster. Maybe there is some secret ingredients. A K&N on a stock snorkel intake is useless until you get one with an open air element. And the booster and oil won't add up either. My advice is to time your car with no one looking...than drag in front of the world
Good luck and welcome aboard!!!

I do have to support the fact that they do seem fast. The funny part was yesterday I was at Harold Chevy (local dealer) and they had a 2000 SS with new heads and cam from TPIS. They were saying around 450 or so. My buddy works up there and he threw me the keys and said have fun. The sad part is the only place that I noticed any differce was at the 80+. I know for a fact that it pulled a hell of a lot harder before then but it was so new, I couldn't tell. Hell my 92 throws your *** back in the seat, the front end lifts and your off. The SS was like, smooth and felt like a Buick. Its so funny how we don't notice the differnces but in all truthfullness that SS would just rape me. Humm low 12's to 14's.......

that would be the differnce between a good low and long torque band a having some wound up hp at 6000rpm. torque is what gets you moving, since we have it lower int he power band and it is a flatter table it feels like there is more there.
the first 330' is the most fun part of the drag strip to me, thats why i like these motors

I dont know how you couldnt tell the difference between a 12 second car and your car
ive been in many low 14 cars (mine with traction could count) and ive ridden and driven a few stock Ws6 cars... i must have a calibrated *** dyno because I nearly wet my pants at the brutality of the LS1 and that was stock. Ive seen head and cam LS1s that would be friggin uncontrollable on the street with street tires

I agree with Pablo....wait, what am I saying? LoL. But its true, I have been in a 12 second 99 SS and there is no need to explain that any furthur on the differences in a stock 305 and the Sprayed SS. Kinda stuipd to even think it.

Its not that you couldn't tell all togeather, it was just so smooth, it rode like a lexus compaired to my car. The way it accelerated was just one constant power ban (of course that is a good thing but still) It just felt too, non-sports car. I am saying this knowing that it will clean my clock any day of the week. I miss the ruff, less comfortable ride I guess. It makes the car feel more sporty. Sorry this is one big random comment.
