Try it both ways then you can tell us if you gained any improvement. It should be an easy test and we all would like to see the results.

Well I took the spacer off. The throttle is a little bit better. other wise no difference. My engine still seems slower than when I had the old intake on.

That intake is no good, as I have been preaching... Get carb Performer Intake with adapter plate.

Zar, what other mods have you done? I am asking this because you should have gotten a gain from the intake swap. When I instlled the Edelbrock tbi manifold I droped .25 in the 1/4 mile and gained 3mph in the traps.
As far as the spacer goes, give it a try just be sure you have the hood clearence, remember
the new intake is a bit taller that stock and when you add one inch to that and it will be close.
Good luck!

i will say with the stock air cleaner housing and a spacer and the edelbrock intake although im not going to try, i dont think it would clear the stock RS hood. you might have to go to a low profile open air if you still have the RS hood

Well I have headers, highflow exhaust, open air element. Soon I will have highflow cat. I noticed when I drive it normal there is a hissing sound that apears. Kinda like extra air being sucked in. Any Ideas?

ok, well I check everywhere for a vacume leak and didnt find one. After checking around some more I narrowed it down to the fuel inj. I replaced the passenger side and my idleing problem went away and the car drive noticably better. I still have the bogging problem when accelerating normaly, dont know why. Im going to replace the other fuel inj. too and see what happens.

that's pretty funny. it is the same manifold if you look at the cross section. it just has a different mounting flange. besides it is a great manifold as my times seem to prove.

I agree that the manifold is better than stock, but a Performer with Adapter plate will outperform. DOn't ask me how I know. I cannot tell...

I think the hissing noise that guy is hearing is normal IAC air rushing noise... I hear it too. I get like 90ish IAC counts when cruising on the highway. Wassup w/that? Posted a while back about trying to reduce it by PROM work but runs so good that I guess I can live with it. Plus, any air going into the IAC will only increase the overall cfm rating of the 1-11/16" unit, which can't be bad, eh?

fastBroker,

What performer intake are you talking about. I have changed my mind about the TBI intake and want a performer one with the adapter. I am not sure hwich one to get though. Which one does everyone keep talking about. Also how much does it cost to have someone install such an intake. On average...I know I have to call around

I am talking about the "for-carburetor" Edelbrock Performer manifolds P/N 2101 (no EGR) and 3701 (w/EGR) and using an Aluminum adapter plate, which Holley makes, for instance. Of course, you could really use any dual-plane manifold, like an Edelbrock RPM (350+hp, 5500+rpm on a regular basis) manifold or Holley/Weiand, Offy, etc manifolds. Bottom line is that you need to put the TBI bores more towards the front of the plenum than near the middle or rear of the plenum, as the TBI dedicated manifolds do. Carb manifolds with adapters almost always accomplish this...

You'll have to call around for the installation times/fees.

Ok, if both tbi and carb. manifold will performe just about the same why bother getting the carb. one? Yes its cheaper but you will have to buy the adapter making it almost the same price. Thats why I bought the tbi performer. Oh, and its not any easier to install the carb. one.
