edelbrock tbi intake....loss of low end power

I have replaced the manifold with the tbi edelbrock and it seems to have a lag in the low 2,000 to 3,000 rpm range. When i use to floor my car the rpm use to go all the way up to 4,000 something before shifting and now it hits 3,000 and restarts. Ive heard alot about vacuum leaks and others removing the manifold because they could never fix the problem. Any suggestions.

The intake pulls real good when i manually shift it through 1st, 2nd, and so on but when i leave it in drive it shifts earlier than it use to. When pushing on the gas it will accelerate up to 3,000 on 1st, goes down and 2nd shift it shifts and the needle sorta floats down to go to the third gear. SOme help, suggestions, or other pieces of advice are handy. Thanks.

Swap in a cam that'll match better with the intake and you won't have any problem.

Sounds like you may not have the TV cable for the tranny in the same place as you did BEFORE you did the intake swap? If you have a 700 Auto, that is. Adjust it accordingly.

I am not fond of that manifold. You should put the Edelbrock 3702 cam (194/214deg at.050" and .396"/.442" lift) in to match or a litle bigger, like a 204/214 with .420"/.442" lift...

Okay fastbroker i have some more ?'s for you. Yes the car is a 700r4 and the term of tv cable to the tranny. Im not real familiar with the engine and some of that other stuff. The tv cable where is it located at? Whats it look like. Is it part of the throttle linkage to the tbi? How do i adjust it. I would like to feel this intake pull the way it should without having to manually shift it.

The tv cable is the lowest cable on the bracket. It has a tube and the cable goes down to the trans. The other two are cruise control and throttle of course. The tv cable should be adjusted so that when you pull the cable, it's about 1/2" from the pin. If you need to adjust it then just push in the metal tab on the side of the bracket and pull the whole cable out a little. Definatly hook it up if it isn't, that'll make a big difference.

I knew all of them were hooked up but the lowest cable doesnt have a tube. The highest cable has the tube and the metal tab that i believe your talking about. The top cable with the tube seems to have a kink or an indentation where it may be looser/out further than before. Now the bottom wire were you can pull it to make it a 1/2 from the pin. I can pull it but the little black connector isnt adjustable itll just go back the same way. Some more help if i could get it and thanks again.

the reason your tranny is shifting low is because like others have said, the TV cable isnt adjusted properly

you there is a bracket and you will see on the lower cable a D shaped button. On the cable youll see the little tube or cone shaped retainer sticking out of the bracket on the wire. Press the D shaped button and push that part of the wire i just described to the REAR of the car as far as it will go.

Get in the car, and then (with the car off) ease the accelerator pedal down to the floor and you should hear some clicks.. thats that little thing you just slid back, self adjusting since you reset it.

Doing this is neccessary, if not youll fry the tranny if you drive like that for a long period of time since the line pressure will be low relative to throttle position and hence power
