Lobe Seperation Angle

Will a 110 degree LSA hurt the TBI and it's computer? I'm doing a camshaft swap and I want to know.

What are the specs on the cam other than lobe sep. I know you want a higher number with efi. I think 110 might be okay. Hopefully some of the cam guys here can tell you if it'll work well of if it's going to be a PITA to tune.

from what I have read here, most people say you should not go with less than 112 LSA. I understand that some people have used 110 LSA cams but you will have to do a custom chip to live with it but you will probably do that anyway. There are a lot of posts dealing with this so check the archives and read up before you spend your money.......bob
Good luck...........bob

IROC, I ran a Comp XE250 with TBI and it ran AWESOME!!! It is a rather mellow cam, though, so the 110 lobe sep did not hinder with that cam. only 206/212deg .050" duration... Comp DOES MAKE 112 and 114 flat tappet cams. Go to there website, HTML version of the catalog and pages 56-57. You'll see them there. Oh, compcams.com...

Once you get into bigger durations, IMO you will ned 112+ lobe seps but for mellow cams, 110 is fine! Unless a 350cid with 320+hp and 400lb-ft+ is not enough for you, that is...

that's awesome I hope that the 110 LSA won't screw up my TBI. I'm going to get a new chip with it. I didn't know Comp Cams made 112 and 114 LSA cams! i guess you learn something new everyday

That's just the catalog stuff. They can make ANYTHING you want. Just goe with a smaller duratoin cam and the overlap won;t hurt you. You can compare the overlap or lack or overlap (exhaust and intake open at the same time OR not) of the cams (at .050" lift) by using the spec sheets. That's what I do but it takes time. Goof for apples to apples comparisons of cams made by different cam mfrs.

Good luck...
