tbi to carb

ive been pricing around and an edelbrock intake with like a double pumper carb will run me around the same price as a tbi manifold and bigger injectors, I should be able to pass emissions with a new engine using carb right?? When changing from tbi to carb i would just have to disconnect the computer right, Do you guys think i should go with the oldschool carb or stick with tbi? Thannxxxx

No way is a double pumper or any other carb. going to pass emissions, especially if they do a visual check on it, and your gas mileage will go to hell too.

changing to carb is not that easy .... first of all your distributer , transmission are both computer controlled. your fuel pump needs to be changed to aftermarket electrical or mechanical pump . your distributor needs to be changed to vacuum advance...and depending on what year tranny you have you need to see if it is computer controlled which it most likely is if you have a tbi. there are stand alone systems where you can hook up your tranny to if you have a carb though..i believe jet performance has them..dont quote me on that though im just going off my memory. another thing that might go..which im really not sure of though is your cluster panel..a few gauges might not work....if anyone knows more about this letme know i am very interested in this conversion...also i would like to know if you get a noticeable performance edge...thanks
