If the brand name is Wells, I'd bet money that it is the culprit. I have given up on Wells. It is a cheap autozone part and not worth penny. I have gone through a number of Wells products, and came to the same conclusion every time.

I just got a Wells module yesterday, and my car starts now , but it just doesn't seem to idle right. I guess I'll check for codes and see what happens. If I get the same code, I'll be lettin' ya know, as well as takin' it bak fer a newon. **** like that pisses me off!!!! It wasn't throwing any codes before the new module, it just wouldn't start. Now my idle sits at 500rpm in Drive and sputters up 'n' down a bit.

Is your EST bypass connector plugged in? And did you reset the computer after you replaced those pieces?

I think jza has got it right. I'll bet the bypass connector isn't right, clean it, or whatever. I believe it's a tan/black wire. single wire connector.

THe wires are fine. It makes a huge difference when its plugged in. Anyways We went to Auto Zone and got them to print out how to diagnose the code 42. Turned up nothing, but the computer still spits it out to us and the Auto Exray says Saprk Timing Monitor Error.
What the Hell is this?

Sounds like it might be refering to the pick up coil. I think that's the only thing that tells the ECM where the rotor is as far as the timing. That would be the "monitor"?

I haven't used the AutoXray, but that is the only thing that would fit the description of a "spark timing monitor". Have you check the resistance on the pick up coil? It should fall between 500-1500 ohms. Optimum is right around 750-950 ohms, but anything in the above mentioned range will work.

BTW, I told you earlier that I would check mine for codes again. I did and I got none. I guess I need to adjust the idle speed.

Good luck,

AJ
