So i found this heads/cam kit made by trickflow for small blocks, and i found a high-flowing TBI unit through summit, but what i can't find is an intake manifold to match both of these parts. are the trickflow 23 heads the same angle as standard L98 heads? Who makes a performance TBI intake that would fit those heads?

A 23 degree head is the factory valve angle and requires no special intake. Where you get into trouble is with vortec, raised port or heads with a non stock valve angle. Your stock intake will probably bolt right up to those heads, but that would defeat the purpose. You can use any of the redily available TBI specific intakes out there, but you would be better off performance and money wise to go with a carb intake and an adapter plate to bolt your TBI to the intake. Keep in mind that you will have to do some fab work to get the throttle cables to work properly.

Hopefully you've done your homework and know that you will need to retune your ECM if you ever hope to make it out of the driveway with these mods. Mailorder won't cut it here, DIY is the ONLY way unless you want to spend a small fortune to have some one else dyno tune it.

 

If your tuning your own chips I highly suggest trying to find a Weiand 7525 single plane intake with a TBI to 4 barrel adapter. I was running a Holley dual plane Projection TBI intake and picked up a 1/2 second in the quarter by switching to the Weiand single plane.

If your not doing your own tuning I would stick to a dual plane.

Does anyone know if the Weiand 7547 is equivalant to the 7525? I have looked and looked but I cannot find a 7525.

 

7525 has been discontinued. I ran one for some time, it was overated. The Performer RPM pulled just as well all around as the 7525. The difference is the 7525 lagged on the bottem compared to the RPM and the 7525 had EGR provisions.

EDIT- I am a big fan of Dual Plane Manifolds with a 1" thick OPEN center spacer under the TBI. That is how I run ALL my TBI engines now.

i have been trying to find some info on this i got some vortec heads for my new motor i have a tpi setup but im not gonna run it. the car came with a 305 tbi so i think im just gonna use a 350 bored tbi alot less hassle but should i use the vortec tbi intake or get a egr carb intake and adapter?

 

The vortec TBI intake will be the most trouble free. The performance manifold will provide more performance, but will need addtional tuning. Both will require tuning regardless. Same with the TPI.

 

Does anyone have any pics of where they did grind away in the center of the intake manifold, to match an open center spacer ? I know one has to weld up two coolant holes ?

 

Wish I could run a DPM w/ adaptor in my upcoming project.... damn EGR requirement.
