IAC adjustment on TBI? URGENT!!!PLEASE HELP.

I need help on adjusting the IAC valve.I can't get the 305 to idle to idle anymore.I have replaced the TPS,MAP and replaced the IAC valve twice. IT sputters crazy. That is before and after the new sensors.

injector spray cone looks like? --smooth spray
fuel pressure is constant? -- should be yes
youve checked your ignition and timing? -- is it ok/correct?
all plug wires hooked up, dist cap etc look good? -- should be yes
is the iac moving if you goose the throttle? -- should be yes
will the car drive without the iac plugged in? -- it should.
check engine light on? -- should be no

see if that helps.

did you clean the IAC seat and passages as well? it tends to build up a lot of crud in there.

I saw alot of "crud" in the passages.Could it be that I may have a bad ECM? I talked to alot of mechanics how the installation goes. I tried alot of solutions, but still no luck.

injector spray cone is :Smooth spray
fuel pressure is: constant
timing: factory setting
all plugs,wires,disp cap, :good
the IAC moving when moving the throttle: little bit.
will the car drive without the IAC plugged in: Yes,but at high RPM.
CHeck engine light on: NO

Manuel,

You might have discovered the major part of your problem - clean out the deposits from teh IAC air passages and you should see an improvement.

Well, the IAC valve was clean when it was new. The Throttle body passages in the IAC place had dark crud in it. not a whole lot but some. I have replaced the IAC three times now. and still no luck. Could it be a BAD ECM, just a possibility right? becuase how perciously does the IAC and other billion sensors have to be installed. By microns ...well I am now officially going nuts.

This weekend I decided to rebuild the throttle body(TB). As I removed the TB I noticed the gasket was missing parts.I walked to autozone and got a carb gasket for it.They were pretty much the same but the there weren't any TBI gasket in stock. I replaced the Gasket and clean the old gasket from the TB. Also removed the black "crud" from the air passages under the TB. pure black crud. after that done, I reconnected everything.I decided not to replace everthing. I started it up the engine and bam it ran better. at first it was sputtering and reving crazing. I let the engine idle for a while and took it for a spin.It was runing weird at first.Sputering and stalling.I stopped to get gas.after that I started it up again and it stalled. It did not want to start. After a while it started up again.IT ran like before.

While Riding home I stopped at a stop light when all the sudden the RPM went to 1200. For a few seconds and then it the RPM went down to 600. The engine sputtered for a second and bam the car was back to normal.

I can not explain why at the stop light, the engine fixed it self.Usally the RPM at a stop light would be at 1000 and stall. Now I can rest asure that it won't do that. Maybe the IAC had to be adjusted or something, maybe the gasket had to be broken in.
THe bird now purrs like normal and easy curzing.
Thank you all for the wonderful help.

To me that sounds like your timing is out of wack

That's funny!

I'm guilty of the same thing. I deliberately try to not look at who-and-where the thread originated, so that I'm not prejudiced. That means I usually don't see when the thread started, either.

This is way to funny. It has got to be the oldest thread ever that was resurrected? Hopefully his motor is running well after all these years. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.
