3.73 gearing advice
I have 3.42 gearing with a 5 speed and want to go to 3.73's. Does anyone have 3.73 gearing with a 5 speed? Should I do this swap? Will it slow me down in the 1/4 mile? Reason why I ask is because I have the Desktop Dyno and Dragstrip software and according to it, I lose a couple tenths in the 1/4 mile if I went with 3.73's. Any advice will be appreciated.

I don't know the exact specs on your cam but personally I think 4.10 is what you want for the best 1/4 time. You really want to cross the 1/4 mark at your peak hp in 4th gear. Do some math and I think 4.10 will give you that

I don't have a 5 speed but I cross at 98-99
at 14.1-14.2. I swapped the stock 3.23 with 3.73's and did not gain much mph but picked up nearly a half second et. I put in a take-out posi from a 4th gen too, my brother suggested I do that if I was going to change gears. From 3.42s to 3.73's isn't much of a change. 4.11's might give you some healthy traction problems on the launch and suck alot of gas around town but would be alot of fun. Probably get more bang for the buck just putting in a new posi.

If you can shift and you're running almost 100mph in the 1/4 with N2o, I would say go with teh 4.10 gears. You would cross the 1/4 mark at 5500 in 4th gear (1:1 ratio). The 3.73 is the best all around gear and probably better if you run on radials. Tire spin with the 4.10 gears might be pushing your cars limits near the end. If it were my car and I only cared about 1/4 mile time then 4.10 gears, if it was a daily driver then no more than 3.73 (even with a 6 speed).
